Was just browsing around houses for sale in my local area recently and came across this.

Property 1

Property 2

What do you think?

mumblechum · 13/04/2010 18:13

Erm, they look ok. The second one looks a bit bland and the first one looks poky.

ABitBatty · 13/04/2010 18:14

I like the 2nd one best, all those books Just off Lordship Lane ha ha what a funny st name!

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/04/2010 18:15

Not looking at them for me to move in to ... but did you notice anything odd at all?

OP posts:
Ewe · 13/04/2010 18:15

Isn't it ridiculous to spend that amount of money without even getting a decent garden? I know that is how it is in Dulwich as I used to live there but it still makes me a bit sick!

Weird disparity in price, have you worked out why?

ABitBatty · 13/04/2010 18:15

I meant I like the 1st one

EpsonPrinter · 13/04/2010 18:17

number 2 is nicer. what was odd about them then?

EpsonPrinter · 13/04/2010 18:18

same kitchen?

EpsonPrinter · 13/04/2010 18:19

price difference?

EpsonPrinter · 13/04/2010 18:20

what then?

noddyholder · 13/04/2010 18:20

the price difference is pretty ridiculous

snice · 13/04/2010 18:20

Are they in different school catchmants?

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/04/2010 18:20

Whats the first thing you consider when buying a house?

OP posts:
snice · 13/04/2010 18:21

or different boroughs?

twinkerbell · 13/04/2010 18:22

number 2 is nicer and rooms a bit bigger

mumblechum · 13/04/2010 18:22

The living room of the second one reminds me of a dentists waiting room

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/04/2010 18:22

Thank you Noddy.

I am fairly sure the first one has the bathroom downstairs behind the kitchen.

Other than that they are basically the same property.

Just goes to show how much people HATE having a downstairs bathroom.

And how greedy people can be.

I sold my house on this road in 2004 for £295,000 [shock!].

OP posts:
TinaSparkles · 13/04/2010 18:23

Are they next to each other?

mumblechum · 13/04/2010 18:24

Aaah. That's a big difference but I can understand it. Imagine having to trail downstairs and through the kitchen in the middle of the night

Not only is the bathroom downstairs it is also through the kitchen. Layout is fairly important to people. Also one set of vendors may be desparate to sell, the others may be just testing the market. The first seem very good value to me.

CuppaTeaJanice · 13/04/2010 18:30

How do people afford London prices? Something similar to that would be around £140,000 round here. And we're only an hour or so away from London!

The house we bought in that road was £106,000 in 1998 Janice. Our joint income then was something like £48,000. Easily affordable. Its only in the last 5 years or so that prices have gone nuts around here. But I really do think nearly £600,000 for a small 3 bed property with tiny garden in South East London is pushing it to the limit.

I am very fond of my little corner of London but it is becoming more and more poncified by the minute.

Good Lord, those prices! How do people afford them? They're only 3 bed terraces!!!
