First impression - a lot of Hs in address. Annoying, no?

thisisyesterday · 10/04/2009 20:41

i have no idea if you should view it. do you like it??

BonsoirAnna · 10/04/2009 20:43

Boring but functional.

Hassled · 10/04/2009 20:43

I like it a lot. We have the identical twin of that brick fireplace and I loathe it, but if you feel the same you can get rid (which we've been meaning to do for 9 years now). Garden is lovely, kitchen big and not short of cupboard space.

ClovisHandrail · 10/04/2009 20:43

I only like the garden. The rest is a bit depressing.

cupofteaplease · 10/04/2009 20:44

For that amount of money, I feel there is a lot I would want to change with the decor- ie, I'm not keen on the kitchen, or the lounge.

However, I don't have nearly half a million to spend on a house- so don't pay any attention to me!

LIZS · 10/04/2009 20:44

If you can afford it and it is what youa re lookign for ! Are you udne roffer or proceedable ? It is a bit dated in decor but looks sound and clean. No idea if priced appropriately for area though. Ask if they include the summer house - we lost a house by offering asking price to include theirs

mrsmaidamess · 10/04/2009 20:44

The Garden is the best bit, it's lovely. The rest is a 'blank canvas' (copyright, Kirsty Allsopp 2003)

WantingToMove · 10/04/2009 20:48

MamaG - heeeeeeeeeeee you made me laugh!

this is yesterday - I can see it has potential & we could change the kitchen & bathrooms (if needs be). Not keen on the brown wood so could paint that & possibly change the windows. Hmph...

BonsoirAnna - I can see you point but it has potential to be changed into something nice. Am wondering if the master bedroom is too small & hoping the 10'2" is taken to the front of the wardrobes.

Hassled - Yeah I would change the fireplace!! Love the garden too

FigmentOfYourImagination · 10/04/2009 20:49

Ugly and basic, imo.

WantingToMove · 10/04/2009 20:51

ClovisHandrail - yeah I agree but I think I can see it has potential!

Lizs - Houseprices around here are depressing as 3/4 bedroom houses are short in supply & high in demand, hence the hefty premium. Our house is on the market, this one has been on for a wee while too. Thanks re the tips of the summer house.

mrsmaidamess - exactly! I would want to change everything & our budget is £450k so we should have enough to make do that.

Figment - & expensive! House prices depress me around here

BonsoirAnna · 10/04/2009 20:55

The furnishings are vile, but of course you will change those. You could get rid of the fitted carpet and put a wooden/parquet floor throughout the ground floor and get a lighting engineer in to help you create a good lighting ambiance.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 10/04/2009 20:56

House prices not that different to where I live, tbh.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 10/04/2009 20:57

although you generally get a bigger gardenb for that price around here.

WantingToMove · 10/04/2009 20:58

I do not like it as it stands & would change everything tbh. I think if it had new windows (or even paint the current ones) & we painted the wood on the front a cream colour & changed the front door & garden gate it would look better instantly. Inside would need decorating throughtout & new kitchen/bathrooms internal doors etc - like mrsmaidamess said: it is a blank canvas.

Am getting a headache now just thinking about it....

The dual-aspect sitting room with French windows (I think) onto the garden has potential. You need to get rid of the horrible fireplace surround, as others have said, and put in something plain and modern IMO. And get some lovely comfortable sofas and have them face the garden rather than the fireplace...

EachPAQUESPearMum · 10/04/2009 20:59

clovishandrail completely O/T ... but what a bizarre name you have! sorry- how on earth did you think of that one?

SuziSeis · 10/04/2009 20:59

grim inside great garden

FigmentOfYourImagination · 10/04/2009 20:59

To be honest, if the space is right and the area is right then the aesthetics of the house should be a bit of a non-entity. You can cosmetically improve the interior to your taste but you can't move the house. If the house matches up to your location and space requirements then there's nothing to lose in viewing it.

On the plus side it does look clean and well cared for, even if it is not to my taste

LadyOfScoffleTheEasterEggs · 10/04/2009 21:02

Zero curb appeal, even with my imagination I couldn't make it 'pretty', tiny garden for price. Sorry!

ClovisHandrail · 10/04/2009 21:08

heehee it's a new one tonight. From Saki short stories, the main character is Clovis Sangrail. Trying it out for a bit.

EachPAQUESPearMum · 10/04/2009 21:11

thanks... Clovis is such an unusual name.
