a long way down a path? It is hard to explain but we viewde the most lovely place yesterday apart from- you have to walk down a shingley path to get to the garden - the garden really is secret but should I be worried that I would n't be able to see DS (3) playing out form the house? Our if DH & I were in the garden in the evening DS would be quite a way away in the house in bed?

What do you think? Would it put you off?

Probably but would need to see it myself really

bluewolf · 26/06/2008 20:01

maybe you could install 2 way cctv. Only joking, is it quite remote or are their neighbours about next door?

forevercleaning · 26/06/2008 20:02

is there no way to 'open ' it out so you can see right down the garden?

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 26/06/2008 20:02

Is the shingle path yours ?? How long is it...

The evenings would not bother me, as you could use a baby monitor.

Re the day time, is the garden safe and secure ? If so I might be tempted. She won't be three for ever.

Sits backs and waits for helicopter Mummies to appear and tell you are feckless, do you not know an asteroid could land on your child.

chocolateshoes · 26/06/2008 20:12

Thanks! Yes the path is ours (I mean would be!!! Can you tell I want this house!!) No you can't open it as neighbours garden juts into it so no it isn't remote but it isn't overlooked. It is very beautifull and very hard to describe! Agree he won't be 3 forever. I am tempted and it is DH who is more worried than me. The garden is enclosed & very safe & secure.

It would depend on where it was. If it was somewhere like where we live - very rural, know everybody, etc etc, then I would probably go for it. In a city I would be more dubious (probably just because I'm a country bumpkin).

spicemonster · 26/06/2008 20:16

My friends live in a flat that has this arrangement. I probably wouldn't let my DS out there for hours on his own at 3 but only because I don't trust him not to destroy the garden

Otherwise, fine

kaz33 · 26/06/2008 20:19

Anyway your 3 year old won't want to be out there for hours on his own anyway - not for a few years.

kaz33 · 26/06/2008 20:20

Can you post a link?

bluewolf · 26/06/2008 20:22

chocolateshoes · 26/06/2008 20:25

Lizzylou · 26/06/2008 20:43

Gorgeous house! Garden wouldn't be a problem at all, you would make sure of that
DH's parents have a caravan at Thornton in Lonsdale, we stay there a few times a year, so I know the area and I would buy it like a shot! Beautiful

spicemonster · 26/06/2008 20:48

puts in offer

chocolateshoes · 26/06/2008 20:56

am discussing finances with DH right now! Need to see mortgage bloke. This is our first house so have never done the whole chain thing and am a bit put off by it.
