I’m loving the Deidre Sparts’ comments about class, obscenity of wealth and so on.

‘Rich woman owns big house shock!’

I bet they talk posh though, coming from Ham don't you know, and they don't wee in the shower,

Class discrimination hate speech on a property thread. How sour are you today on a scale of 10/10.

God, Mumsnet is hard work these days.

Absolutely love it. Pure dream house. I bet she was really happy there - I hope so because it’s nice to imagine that living somewhere like that would make you happy on its own.

The rich will always be with us. I hope it stays beautiful.

Go on Omaze! This is your moment!!

lol - can you imagine 😂

It's so lovely though. Huge yet cosy. V glad to see the tennis court so well maintained. It's often an afterthought in big houses.

I hope someone decadent/interesting/artistic/eccentric/loves tennis(!) buys it.

Is it mad to say I wouldn’t want to live there? No where nearby to get a pint of milk, no neighbours. Drowning in chintz. Ham is a bit of an unreal place too -not much social mix that I can see. I know it’s objectively wonderful but it made my heart sink a bit.

Spoken like someone who has definitely never been to Ham (!).

Loving the Spart reference 🤣🤣

It’s a great ride on the top deck of the 65 between Richmond and Kingston, going through Petersham then Ham as far as Ham Parade . You can see over the walls of the big Georgian houses that you can’t see from car level, plus the smaller houses and cottages right in the road . Wouldn’t like to actually live on that road though - traffic all the time and nosey bus passengers like me staring down.

The swimming pool is gorgeous. I bet the house has seen some wonderful parties.

It epitomises the British class system at its finest
@JacknDiane if it’s sold to an overseas buyer, what class system will it then epitomise?

A big house does not epitimise the British class system anyway
That’s a very odd take by Jack

The system depends heavily on heritage, cultural capital, and how the house is used. While wealth and property play a role, a massive house doesn't automatically make someone upper class
