Would indoor guinea pigs affect your view of buying a house?

Would indoor guinea pigs put you off buying a house?

We will be putting our house on the market in a few weeks. We have indoor guinea pigs.

I ask people when they come round if they can smell them and they say not really but I don't know if they are just being polite. I do clean their poo out everyday and deep clean once a week.

We could put them outside for viewings/house photos but it'll mean forking out another £100 for a suitable cage/run that's big enough and foxes cant get to them. We have quite a small garden

What do you think?

I think calling people thick etc over worry about smell is unfair. It doesn't always go with owners.
Saying that as someone who had flat after people had "free range" rabbits in it.....

But there's a difference between caged & uncaged pets.

I looked at a house last year that had a free ranging house rabbit and you could definitely smell it, especially near it's 'home' in the cupboard under the stairs. Are your guinea pigs free ranging?

I love animals but it would put me off a bit but if I loved your house I’d probably see past them but your home would forever know as the ‘Guinea pig house’

Yeah but the point is people don't know if they are not out of cage most day free roaming.
So yes, some people might worry the smell with not leave with owners. And they are not thick.
I had rats and you could easily tell where their fave hideout was when out of cage....

I'd say no, but after buying a house that smelt of wet dog and only realising afterwards that it was actually hiding issues with the drains I would be wary. I'd noticed the smell as soon as I walked in, but put it down to the rather large dog present, and assumed it would go with the offending animal.

We bought one with indoor rabbits. We hadn't realised they'd destroyed the carpets beforehand.

Not unless they were included in the purchase price.

We have indoor piggies, they absolutely do smell despite regular cleaning. The smell is wet bedding/hay. I would put them in an outdoor run if I was selling.
