How do you know it’s the right house?

I’ve seen 3 houses so far, and I’m booked in to see one more.

I really like the 1st house I saw though. I keep looking at the photos, and walking past it. There are some issues I need to look into a bit, and it’s not perfect. But I can imagine living there with DS and being happy.

So, how do I get to the end and just choose 😄?

Exactly as you describe. You start daydreaming about the house, keep looking at the details and pics. If you can see yourself there then it’s the one.

I actually had a thread running on here for this house we’ve now moved into. Was love at first site, we knew we needed to upsize and seeing this house is what made me rush to get ours on the market with the same agent. It was touch and go for a couple of weeks waiting for an offer on ours and then we had a stressful 9 months of legal issues with this place. We also bonded with the elderly vendors, one of which had sadly passed away and whose funeral we went to the other day. They saw themselves in us when they were young and wanted the house to go to a family. It was just meant to be.

I have only bought once so not very experienced but I imagine there’s usually an element of a leap of faith, unless you’re very lucky or have the resources to buy your absolute dream house. Our house is by no means perfect but it’s a nice neighbourhood and an amazing primary school down the road so it was the right house at the right time with our budget.

For me, it's the cheapest - most comfortably affordable at least stress - that happily contains my family.

I’ve only bought one house (still in it now) but I knew I wanted it from actually walking through the front door. It just felt right. It’s old and I’ve refurbished from top to bottom and added double storey extension…it’s perfect! However….it’s done what I needed it to do (schools, wraparound childcare, commute) and I’m ready to move on.

Ive been in every showhome and new development within a 20 mile radius…but the first one I saw is still the only one I’m prepared to shell out for…again, first viewing from walking in the door. I knew it’d be perfect for my next phase.

I guess it’s all about the area, the property, the space already there and the scope to develop further.

When we brought our current house 12 months ago - the selling point for us was the scope that the property had to be re-developed.

it was a probate property that was in very poor condition and we knew we would have to completely gut - having the land to extend to create a larger kitchen area and an additional bedroom/office study was a selling point for us!

The work was completed in October 2025 and I can honestly say the finish is amazing and this will be our forever home.
The property looks unrecognisable from when we first purchased it!
