ok floor whore bore me again...those of you who have karndean in your kitchen...

what colours etc did you choose.
ours is insurance job after massive leak, but we are changing kitchen next year ( cannot do now) and wonder about the right colour floor with what colour kitchen
we are torn ( I'm torn dp is barely registering) between light floor dark units
or darker floor wood or black slate colour and light units...
oh the dilemma
this is not the forever house so dunno why I care. As soon as recession clears we are OFF but have house to sell hence need for decent job etc

we had a beech colour (when i thought beech was nice) in our hall - it was shite, showed the scuffs and marks really badly. We had oak in the bathroom and as it was grained showed nothing at all - it was excellent. I would go for oak without a doubt if its not your forever house. Still good stuff but do not go for plain!

so, are theyy replacing the whole kitchen? do show cupboards too

pale wood or black slate will look grubby all the smegging time.
dark wood, or at least oak, it is then.

we have black slate floor and natural oak kitchen - not our choice, brand new house. It does look nice though. Floor hides scuffs from Dc's. The bathrooms were fitted with the oak grain - I think it shows splash marks too much (forever wiping it)

right our kitchen atm is painted ( badly, by previous owners) buttery cream vanilla type or ikea yellow/White is about the same shade.
so can take dark or light
an not keen on wood shades as next kitchen will prob be darker wood finish. Am liking sandstone with black strips between or terracotta seems safe choice. Black slate shades would mean going for lighter kitchen when we do it.
might do kitchen now if cabinets get damaged while floor being done ( prays)

I am uncertain about what type of dark kitchen we'd get... So am a bit umm ahh about darker flooring
but am popping out to showroom tomorrow so am prepared to have my views challenged!!!I do appreciate the opinions esp re cleaning as am slatternish in disposition domestically speaking!!!

What's so posh about Karndean? - we looked at a house to buy that had this all through the downstairs. It was a 'feature' of the house. Just looked like relatively nice, probably overpriced wood laminate.....

So, what is it?

right, so not really a major selling point in a house then!

I like dark floors, non wood effect, in kitchens.

its customized vinyl actually warmer andcquieter underfoot and harder than laminate more durable than lino and not as crackable as ceramic...
not so much posh for us as practical.
quote is only £120 more than that for laminate tiles, so not that expensive imvho esp as insurance are paying!

when you put it like that piffle it does sound like a selling point.

but then, my idea of quality/value is directly related to how impossible it is to break.
for eg, i have a pearl necklace dp gave me when he was wooing. i loved it, wore it every day, all the time. went to shop a year later to see about getting a pair of studs (was swapping a follow up pres which was hideous and only coz he suggested it and made me, am not ungrateful cow, honest) i digress... so i walk into shop and v groomed lady is appalled that ive been wearing them all the time, even in the bath and makes me take em off and have them restrung and promise to polish them nightly and never get any creams/chemicals on em etc etbloody cetera.

naturally, i cant be arsed, so i never wear the sodding things anymore. so whats the point of em, eh??

Piffle I have soapstone with American Oak 'grouting'. The tiles are laid on the diagnonal IYSWIM with a straight edge border.

Kitchen is modern oak with mottled black worktop.

ooooh sensing post flooring bitterness boyz... Tragic loss indeed...
I do hanker after the rectangular tiles... With dark 3mm edging.
But erm dunno really

[shrugs] nah, s'ok. the floors ver lovely n all that. i just thought diagonal would be a bit more interesting. but hey, it looks good anyway. (tis an oak floor thats been fumed doubly to make it rich dark brown, a bit like walnut. but kind of cheaper )

In the kitchen I've light cream units with metallic handles & a darkish wood karndean floor that matches the wooden work-surfaces. It also has simple diagonal black stripes framed with a black border which goes with the black range and the granite coloured appliances - it's a sort of old/modern fusion (lol at own ponciness).

unlikely I'll be challenged. Dp seems more interested in death than flooring...
Off to showroom tomorrow, no doubt I'll be back foaming at the mouth with flooring frenzy.
I am a modern day tragedy I know...

ok... Bathroom 1- slight blue green in tile detail otherwise blank canvas- kids bathroom so splashes and so on...

Our bathroom is en suite plus dressing room, decorated in some poncetastic farrow and ball light buttery yellow cream thing. I'm sure its called hallowed daylight or so forth....
tiles are so immemorable I cannot tell you
so again... Open season!!!!
