A haunted house - is this a bonus?!

i absolutely love this house but it’s not to everyone’s taste. It is situated in the area I grew up and was always known as the haunted house. The estate agent blurb advertises that it’s been featured on ‘Most Haunted’ - set me wondering if this would be seen by potential buyers as a positive or more likely to put them off. A quick google reveals ghosts and a poltergeist!

If I had the money I would love to buy that house but, I have to admit, it might put me off even though I don’t really believe in the supernatural ( unless I’m on my own in the middle of the night 😂).

love to know others opinions - would it put you off?

No way. Grew up in a creepy place and it was miserable and stressful. Avoid.

I think that you can actually get into every room but some of the bedrooms are accessed through a bathroom (and one of the bathrooms is accessed through an ensuite. Also the main bedroom has to use bedroom 2 as a dressing room otherwise it can only access a bathroom via bedroom 2 which would be tricky. I don't know if the awkward layout was done as it was the cheapest way to do things - ie remedial if you can chuck money at the problem or dictated by listed building requirements - ie can't be changed. That would really put me off either way (speaking as someone who has already had to negotiate the latter).

My son has to walk through the family bathroom to get to his bedroom or go downstairs , outside and use a back stairs
We also have to walk through a bedroom to get to another
Halls and bathrooms weren’t a big thing when ours was built either

Beautiful house and amazing price but no. Firstly I’ve seen too many films where people ignore the ghost stories and it ends badly, secondly although I love houses like this, after previously owning a Grade 2 400 year old house, never again! I’ve learnt it’s easier to just admire them from afar.

As long as they left me alone, I would not mind! Though to be honest, its not my kind of house, even though it's nice and big

That layout would bother me more than the thought of ghosts! I get it’s an old house so layout and room configuration is often unusual, but walking through an en-suite to get to another bathroom? I’d have to ask why it couldn't just become one big bathroom! And I don’t like the stairs in between master bedroom and dressing room - I’d probably fall down those in the middle of the night and add myself to the ghost count!

It’s such a gorgeous house 😍
