Buyers asking for another viewing

Near completion - or so we think! Our buyers have just asked for another viewing. Only reason is "to view the house again" this is 4 months after their offer. Their mortgage has been approved as has ours for our new house and we are just awaiting enquiries.

They didn't do a survey.

Is this... normal? It seems odd to me, but I've not sold a house before only purchased.

We have said yes, but told them it will have to be next week (they wanted to come today after asking st 6pm last night)

It's really normal. I went back to view the house I'm buying 2 months into the process because it was taking ages with loads of problems and I love my little house and missed it and wanted to remind myself what I'm fighting for. I'll ask to go back just before exchange as well to make sure it's in the state I'd expect.

Completely normal
We went a second time and will go a third to measure up .

I wouldn’t want to pay £Kkkkkk without checking it is as it was 4 months ago.

My daughter had an offer accepted on her first flat at the beginning of January. It has taken ages to sort out a couple of issues with the flat that really should have been sorted out when the current owners bought it, and we have finally started to see some progress on those.

Daughter is going to ask to see the flat again soon. She hadn’t wanted to do it earlier as she didn’t want to get to attached to it in case everything fell through.

Thanks all. We have no problem with them coming but yeah was a bit cheeky to expect to come the next morning.

Said they can come next week so tidying this weekend!

Glad to hear it's all normal! We had 2 viewings of our new house but that was before we put an offer in.

We were not planning to go again (it's 50+ miles away) but think we may do now before moving in. We had a full survey done and glad we did but to be honest it was mostly pages and pages of "could happen" which is good but also... a bit annoying

I wish we did one pre exchange.
The seller stopped cleaning and upkeep right afteroffer based on the level of dirt and grease and let's not mention bathroom😳

It's now well recommended because some people are just twatty unfortunately and even leave some serious damages they did between offer and exchange.

Glad you are going ahead with it

TizerorFizz · 09/05/2025 16:21

@AlexisP90 I think “what could happen” means you keep an eye open perhaps more than you would without such a report. It’s always better to have a heads up. DH is a structural engineer and you would be surprised at the nasty surprises that lurk!

I mean we did a whole level 3 survey on our new home but that's because it's pretty old.

It was... OK I guess. Just a lot and lot of pages of things that could happen and a few pages of some potential issues.

It was a lot of money... our house we are selling is about 12 years old so perhaps they just didn't feel they needed one

When we bought, our solicitor said that less than half his clients do a proper structural survey. And his area is mainly 1920s houses. people are bonkers not to.

AlexisP90 · 09/05/2025 17:20

Oh don't get me wrong I do not regret having the survey done and if I move again I will definitely do it again. Just that it was all could happens which yes I guess is good to know.

I don't know why our buyers haven't done one. Less than half is a crazy stat especially for older houses

Shoddy building can certainly feature in a house 12 years old - sadly. Not suggesting your house is in that category but some do have issues. One DH looked at had to be demolished. It was 5 years old. Heave had split the walls away from the floors. The foundations were insufficient for the ground conditions.
