How to dress these windows?

I'm a complete novice and don't know what to do .
I've had curtain poles put up but I'm now unsure that this is under way to go .
As below 2 windows are close together but with narrow space between them and on one side.
The third window is flush against the wall on one side.
I'm aiming for unfussy and plain.
Roller blinds?

We have shutters everywhere and they only block the light when they are closed. The light floods in when they’re open. I wouldn’t have anything else now. They’re expensive but worth it.

Those are lovely @Defiantly41 .

If it were me I would either go for shutters or blinds that you pull up rather than pull down.
These blinds give privacy and let the light in.
Luxaflex do them

Another vote for Roman blinds here. Very pretty windows OP!

What lovely windows! I've always fancied those double blinds so you can get light through or use the blackout but I think they are expensive. Roman blinds would be gorgeous or raise your curtain rail right up to the ceiling and have light linen curtains?

@JaninaDuszejko I’m just not keen on Roman blinds when they are totally pulled down, hence why I suggested a black out blind beneath, this is one of my bedrooms…

@Rina66 is that a Roman blind with a roller blind underneath?

@Whattodowiththesewindows yes it is, a black out roller blind, in taupe to match the blind and curtains. That window gets a lot of afternoon sun, so I pull it down to keep the room cooler

Good that you've found something that works for you .
Love the tapestry with those leaded lights.

I’m the same, in my living room I have three windows all with Roman blinds with roller blinds behind in the window recess, it works so well, the rollers are so practical and can be put into position depending on the light, I don’t like Roman blinds when they are down either.

Whattodowiththesewindows · 03/04/2025 22:11

Do you have the Roman blind just to soften the look of the roller blind ?
Like a modern pelmet ?

I would have one long curtain pole that spans all three windows, and then one big set of floor to ceiling curtains, so when pulled shut the whole wall is a big wall of curtain. Cosy!

Supperlite · 03/04/2025 22:36

We have recently bought a house with Roman blinds which are on a rotating open/close mechanism and when I tell you it takes at least 30 pulls of the blind cord to open and close them I’m not exaggerating! You’re there for ages and the noise is terrible. If you get Roman blinds, get ones that have a simple cord pull/release and cord tie back mechanism.

Fatrosrhun · 03/04/2025 22:46

What a lovely bright rooms. Definitely curtains. Blinds take some of the light away and flap in the wind. I’ve never been a fan, Long, light curtains would look good. Just have one curtain on the window that goes right up to the wall. We have had to do that with one of our windows.

sunbum · 03/04/2025 23:40

another vote for shutters, the wide louvre ones. They let loads of light in and look clean and unfussy.

Iwanttoliveonamountain · 04/04/2025 09:51

I would get three Roman blinds blackout if it’s a bedroom but use the curtain poles for voile floor length curtains. It’s a beautiful room.

So we just have different taste, I like how clean Roman blinds look and find your roller blind, roman blind and curtains look far too fussy. One window treatment is sufficient for me!

Hols23 · 04/04/2025 13:30

There's no right or wrong answer as it all comes down to taste! Personally I prefer curtains to other options.
