Anthracite grey or white window

Hi,

We are looking to replace the windows on this 1930s semi detached property. But struggling to pick the colour, would you go for anthracite grey or white UPVC? Eventually we would like to replace all the render too.

Houses on the road are mix of white, grey, black and brown windows.

Help please!

People having been saying grey is on the way out for the past 5 years but it's still popping up everywhere. Take no notice 😂
Having said that, I think it only really works on houses with white render.

I thought this too as I posted upthread., but someone posted a link on another thread recently about a paint spraying company. There's a brick house (no render) that has before and after pics, white upvc to black/anthracite frames and door and it actually looks really nice.

I think black or anthracite, which is obviously pretty dark, will end up becoming classic. I don't agree it will become dated like mahogany/rosewood has.

I agree with @CellophaneFlower - I think the grey and cream looks absolutely stunning. Grey would be a close second but not with the brown exterior.

What colour do you plan on eventually the house - brown again or white/cream? And are you replacing the front door?

Other colours on the road

Good range of photos here that illustrate the pros and cons nicely. The grey with the bare pebbledash looks rubbish. The one next to it with the cream render looks better, but the thick grey plastic looks a bit naff. The top picture with the black windows looks a bit better still. And the bottom right with the black looks pretty classy as they are much narrower frames. Looking at all those options side by side, I'd be quite tempted by the thin black with a good white or cream render. I wish you could take a time machine into the future to see whether these are deemed classic in 20 years time! Such a big expense if you get it wrong.

White. Grey will look dated in a few years. Grey is a trend and white is timeless.

White - timeless and classic.

Grey - a trend just like brown in the 80s was (along with avocado bathroom suites).

@Billyblue47 Almost exactly the same wording as my post at exactly the same time. (apart from the avocado). 😂
