So we are buying and selling. I made a special trip to collet the papers today for signing, understanding that everything is in order. Then had to ring my solicitor about a minor query and asked if they had any idea of an exchange date. They said that they didn't know if everyone else was ready yet and written today to ask. There are only three of us in the chain and I'm sure I had been told last week everyone was ready! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! Pass the gin please. At least it's all still on - anyone else out there in the same (nervous) boat?

okay, have got over my survey paranoia (for now), thanks! I guess they must have just decided not to use the mortgage company's surveyor for their 'main' survey, but of course you have to use the mortgage company's surveyor for the valuation, hence two visits.

Hope the hangover's not too bad Clam

oooooh me too please, the sun's waaaaaay over the yardarm and there's still no news to speak of...

bringmesunshine · 17/04/2008 18:06

Plumps up the cushion behind her back and starts gently singing "tomorrow, tomorrow I love you tomorrow, your only a day away...la la la"

Promptly faints from relief that she did all this in September and then comes round when she remembers will have to sell again very soon as moving to S.Africa

PixelHerder · 17/04/2008 18:14

oooooh that's better, ta!

NorthernLurker · 17/04/2008 18:44

I've returned all our signed stuff to the solicitor today. Just need an exchange date so I can sort the buildings insurance now. Buyer is coming tomorrow with the guy for his second electrics quote and I've told our agent that we will want to hear from him on Monday about that. I am NOT hanging around for another week!

Good work on the visulisation pixel

Hic!

Large round of applause for NL and another medicinal gin for Pixel.....seeing boxes move indeed

NorthernLurker · 17/04/2008 18:54

It's when I I start dreaming that we've moved/failed to move/had all our belongings in the removal van crushed by a passing herd of widebeest/had John Barrowman and Amy Winehouse turn up and say they are our movers...........that I'll start to worry!

OP posts:
bringmesunshine · 18/04/2008 11:55

.......any developments?

NorthernLurker · 18/04/2008 16:15

nothing today - other than that I did dream about it last night - our solicitor said she had been round whilst everyone was asleep - to the new house and all the boundaries were wrong and the speed bump was in the wrong place! Think I maybe dwellinng on it a bit too much Got to clean up now for the buyer's visit tomorrow.....

OP posts:
PixelHerder · 18/04/2008 16:51

no (but that could also be a good thing of course...)

Good luck with the clearing up NL - we're lucky that our buyers haven't been back to look since they viewed, as the house definitely isn't the gleaming palace they saw last time

Gosh BMS, that's a major move, very exciting! Is extreme house-moving your hobby or do you have another reason?

bringmesunshine · 18/04/2008 17:29

Can understand that NL - I used to go to sleep and dream about which walls we were going to knock down when we moved here....moved last year and haven't knocked one yet Good luck with the cleaning tonight...

PH - this will be the last move out to SA, did major work on the previous house with a 2 year old and 6 month old and then sold it before market had a wobble.

I think my itchy toes just need some sun to settle

NorthernLurker · 19/04/2008 10:44

right they've been - think it was all ok. I am a bag of nerves today - dh has come in for some heavy criticism - he said what was he doing wrong - I couldn't tell hime specifics - it was just a general everything Buyer said they are still waiting for a couple of searches (?) - all ours were done really quickly - hope it is a delayingn tactic....also they are going away next weekend...I feel it is increasingly unlikely we can exchange next week Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

OP posts:
NorthernLurker · 19/04/2008 10:45

sorry 'hope it isn't a delaying tactic'

Delayed exchange is THE most stressful part of the whole nightmare that is buying and selling! It is like the final hurdle when everyone can heave a sigh of relief as money ahs exchanged hands and so is more serious.Hope it happens soon!

clam · 19/04/2008 17:58

Our solicitor told us it was quite common to be delayed, but we didn't take much comfort from that as the current climate is so uncertain, and every news bulletin brings another scare story. Good luck to everyone who's still waiting, though.

bringmesunshine · 21/04/2008 10:13

fingers crossed for some movements today and then we move onto champagne

PixelHerder · 21/04/2008 10:45

Thanks BMS and Clam (nervous )

NL - we've got that 'waiting for search results' thing too. Apparently (according to our conveyancers last week, but I'm not convinced ) the buyers' solicitor is only waiting on the results of one more search then they can exchange. But surely all the search results were in the HIP??? Blaaardy rubbish system.

Also, if their lender only valued the house last week, surely that means they wouldn't have had their formal mortgage offer until around now, so that would have been a fairly major thing holding them up?

It really is quite stressy, although nothing has gone actually 'wrong' it's the constant low-level worry for weeks on end that something might , I guess.

NorthernLurker · 21/04/2008 10:49

Pixel - are you sure you're not me? That low level worry thing is exactly how I feel! Our buyers have cash so don't need a mortgage. We don't have a HIP though as the house went on the market before they were a requirement. I'm hoping his solicitor is just a bit slow and can be galvanised into action! They can all have today to get organised and after that I think I will hit the phones and push a bit!

OP posts:
NorthernLurker · 21/04/2008 16:13

Ok - I cracked and rang our solicitor - her secretary said they hadn't heard anything and she would contact us when they did. So then I rang our agent who is ringing the buyer to find out about the quote he got on Saturday. Still waiting to hear back. i'm very fed up!

OP posts:
PixelHerder · 21/04/2008 16:37

maybe I am you NL! We should therefore split the worrying, I'll worry on Monday if you do Tuesday, and I'll do Wednesday, how's that?

I keep saying to myself 'no news is potentially good news, at least we don't have hordes of silly queries to answer about the house' and the solicitors are hopefully just being slow at doing the mundane stuff... I think I'll ring ours tomorrow though

It's getting on for gin time soon!

NorthernLurker · 21/04/2008 16:39

I've done a fair bit today though - so can you do tomorrow and I'll just sleep

It is time for gin
