If I had infinite money I’d definitely buy this:

Pity the advert doesn’t have more photos but the floor plan clinches it for me!

Check out this 7 bedroom terraced house for sale on Rightmove

This is on the main road opposite the park I think. We used to live up the road at the top of that hill. It's very nice but the road is very busy. I mean I wouldn't say no but if I had 3 million to spend I am not sure that's where I'd spend it. Sadly I don't though 😝

heinzseight · 23/07/2024 20:03

I also used to live near the Buxton house and I'd got for that one and put the 2.3 mill in the bank ~~and never work again~~

Absolutely - plenty of my neighbours earn several hundred thousand a year and take the tube. Trying to get anywhere central fast is a nightmare.

Nobody earning a few hundred grand a year is buying a 3m house…

RobertSalamander · 23/07/2024 20:09

To each their own - it’s a bland terrace in Peckham if you ask me 😄 I’ll be down the road in Dulwich village if I had £3mill 😁

Papricat · 23/07/2024 21:10

The decoration is atrocious, money clearly doesn't buy taste.

I have always wanted to live on that square in Oval (its actually Stockwell but noone will spend £3.75m to live in Stockwell 🤣) Joanna Lumley used to live there and one of London's best pubs is round the corner.

A mate of mine used to live in a tiny flat there in my NCT coffee morning days. I was quite jealous. I assume by the pub you mean the Canton Arms which has amazing food - but the Cavendish Arms is great too.

Dulwich Village is vastly more expensive though, you’d not get anything comparable for £3m. You’d need to double it.

Same. I wouldn’t pay £500k to live on that busy road.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/07/2024 21:27

Odd photos, no pictures of bedrooms or kitchen just a jug of sunflowers !

Talkinpeace · 23/07/2024 21:28

TBH for a 3 million budget
I'd spend £1 million in Winchester
and then rent helicopter hours ;-)

SeaBlueGreen · 23/07/2024 21:38

That house looks like an absolute money pit and will need a LOT spent on it. And the area isn’t that great. Probably the pragmatic thing to do is for a developer to divide it into flats.
Amused at people thinking that public transport isn’t a necessary thing. Only other option is to cycle or run into work if you work in central London.

Dividing it into flats hopefully wouldn’t be allowed - as the advert says it’s Grade 2 listed!

Most of them own a house in London that is in the region of £2 -£3m, a country pad often somewhere nautical like Lymington for the weekends and somewhere in France or Italy for the holidays. Basically the London house is a "city pad" that's easy to get in and out of on the tube.

So did one of my NCT mates - do you have a 2002 baby by any chance?

Yes indeed. Small world.

Mumoftwo1316 · 23/07/2024 23:13

It's no fun looking at places you could buy if money were no object.

Inspired by this thread, dh and I have been looking at places we could afford if distance to London were no object (but it is, for our jobs).

1-1.5million can get you a 7 bedroom mansion with stables in some parts of the country! Actual stables. And thr floor plans have things like "entrance hall" and "billiard room" on...!

Mumoftwo1316 · 23/07/2024 23:15

(Not that we could easily afford 1.5mil bit it would be within our aspirations)

EatingSleeping · 24/07/2024 00:10

Mumoftwo1316 · 23/07/2024 23:18

This is one of them that he got enthused about:

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/146311493?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard#/&channel=RES_BUY

But as I pointed out to dh, we couldn't afford this without his london based job. He might as well show me what 1.5mil could buy in Siberia

That Congleton house drive will be a problem in the snow. So many of the rooms are lovely but it doesn't hang together at all. And I'm fascinated by the dress as art thing. I think you can do better ;)

To a pp who mentioned Winchester and helicopter hours. 1 mil wouldnt go that far and you'd be better on the train!

I’m very aware what Dulwich village is like, I don’t need something comparable. I’d rather have the vibe!

mitogoshi · 24/07/2024 07:38

Rooms aren't big enough for me, 8 bedrooms but smaller than mine and not enough bathrooms. Also no dining room. For £3m years you expect perfect

Zonder · 24/07/2024 07:39

If I had 3 million to spend on a house I wouldn't go for a mid terrace, however nice the area.

mitogoshi · 24/07/2024 07:44

The Buxton house needs reconfiguration too, master suite out of 2 of the top floor bedrooms and use the two bedrooms adjoining the upstairs living room as kids rooms onto a shared playroom/study/games room depending on age. But I love Buxton and could actually afford it

Mumoftwo1316 · 24/07/2024 08:21

If distance to London were no object...

It's got a swimming pool, gym, cinema room, 4 reception rooms, 6-8 bedrooms, countless ensuites and showers, a tennis court...

1.5million!

Round here 1.5million will get you a little 3-4 bed semi detached.
