Create an extra room

Hi All, we are desperate to create an extra room upstairs to make the house a 4 bed. Any ideas if this can be done adjusting the current upstairs layout?
Thank you.

Is adding a window a possibility or are is this strictly moving non-load bearing walls?

You’re lacking windows. So would probably need to split the back larger bedroom in 2 (I can’t see the room sizes so don’t know if it’s workable) and each have half the window.

there are various creative pictures out there for fantastic room dividers to give kids privacy but still share.

only other way I can see would be to move the bathroom downstairs and use that space as a bedroom.

We wouldn't mind adding a window 😊

There was a very similar thread a couple of days ago. I suggested a solution similar to that shown by @TwoBlueFish

Interlocking bunkbeds can help to free up extra floorspace. The choice then is either to have two windows or keep just one window and have a rooflight providing light for the other room.

Attached are some plans and photos.

You could steal a bit from both of the big bedrooms and move the bathroom to in-between them and make the current bathroom into a bedroom. However running the toilet pipes to outside might involve having to put them through the floor and boxing them in on the ceiling downstairs depending on where the joists run. Don't get a macerator loo as they are noisy and get blocked all the time. You would also potentially end up with four quite small bedrooms.

I can see how small the current bathroom is but it might be too small to make this feasible. Maybe you could use the downstairs lounge as a bedroom and just have one reception room

I presume council or 'legal' other things have been checked to see what is required

As already mentioned a wndow would be one

It would be far cheaper to make the front longue into a bedroom and then the dining room into a longue-diner
