Just that really.

I found 4 properties I like.

MH - between coldfall wood and colney hatch lane

CE - Harringay ladder or just next to Harringay overground

Southgate - on hampden way.

I commute to central London for work. Farringdon/chancery lane.

Primary schools are important.

What does ‘looked upon’ mean?
coming on to recommend East Finchley for family friendly and good transport if you want a bit more space

I would look in Barnet - anywhere within walking distance of New Barnet train station. It’s suburban and safe, you will get far more for your money and you can commute direct on Thameslink from New Barnet to Farringdon.

we are really interested in knowing where we're going to be in the centre of

You're not in the centre of anywhere. It's a suburban residential area that's close to Hornsey High St, Crouch End and Muswell Hill.

This is where you're buying: The Warner Estate wera-n8.co.uk/wera

That's more Hornsey than Crouch End.

It’s completely Hornsey! But Hornsey is really really close to Crouch End so it’s just estate agent perceptions of area labels. From Clovelly Road you can walk across Priory Park and be on Crouch End Broadway within 15 mins. Hornsey itself is perfectly inoffensive and has a few nice/useful shops (including a lovely shiny new large but not too large Sainsbury’s). The bus to Muswell Hill goes right along that main road (Priory Road) and will have you there in under 10 mins. Plus the closeness to Ally Pally park makes it desirable. The only area you need to be careful about being mis-sold as Crouch End is Wood Green, which is a different vibe altogether.

Personally I wouldn’t describe anything inside the North Circular as “suburban” @ScribblingPixie . To me suburban is 1930s houses with gardens and drives in Barnet and Finchley.

I guess maybe it’s a Victorian/Edwardian Suburb.

I guess people would have different opinions about whether the suburbs begin at zone 3 or 4.

Well, you and I clearly do 😂. I think that for me it’s the connotation of the word “suburban”- to me that is somewhere where you have a drive and need to go in your car to get to the shops.
