Particularly interested if you've had one for a while.. how does it perform long term?

Love the idea of no kettle on the work top but they are very £££

Just having our kitchen refurbed. The advice for our Kitchen designer is not to go for the one that does sparkling water as the canisters are a pain to change, but the standard taps are great.

That’s really odd as I have one and it takes about a minute to change it! I don’t even like sparkling water but it’s all I drink now as it comes out really cold and refreshing. The sparkling water addition is expensive but worth every penny.

DorotheaDiamond · 09/06/2024 22:38

14 years, my tea drinking dh and dd perfectly happy with it! Probably should service it mind you!!

TiberiusFlam · 09/06/2024 22:42

Had it 6 years
have had to have the engineer out once, which cost a couple of hundred quid
I love it but it’s an expensive option
keep a kettle somewhere as a back up

Get one. Its one of the best things we bought when we had our kitchen fitted. We have a Qettle. The price varies depending on what finish/function/spec. Ours is from the Signature range and has boiling (100°c)/filtered chilled on one side and regular hot and cold on the other, with a 4litre tank - approx £1.3k. The novelty of making a cup of tea in about 6 seconds hasn't worn off yet, and I've had it for 2 years!

IrritatedB3dM4ker · 09/06/2024 22:52

Yes Quettle boils to 100 degrees too.

Houseplanter · 09/06/2024 22:55

Im loving your input everyone.

I started out very anti them but am now so tempted. The tap we had on our quote was £350.. just a tap.

Really wish there was somewhere i could see one in action

Absolutely love it, but.... after about a year the performance reduced and I tried booking the accredited installers in to service it a few times but they kept insisting it shouldn't need it. After 2 years the boiling water flow was down to a trickle so we ordered a descaling kit/ replacement filters etc to service it ourselves. Fascinating to find the canister was full of limescale flakes! This felt like it took almost an entire day to do, we just couldn't get it to reseal properly!

A couple of months ago (now 3 years old) we couldn't get boiling water to come out of the tap at all. Had to call a Quooker engineer. They said that the magnet mechanism to turn it on had failed, we must have used a cleaning product on the tap to cause this and the only solution was to replace the tap. Apparently this model wasn't serviceable! We chose a different model of tap as they said it could be serviced. Cost for call out and more expensive replacement tap was quoted as over £800 including something like a 20% discount which was all the engineer said he could give.

We complained about it failing after only just 3 years. They didn't address it but when the invoice came, it was only £450 rather than the £800+ so maybe they discounted it further!

IrritatedB3dM4ker · 10/06/2024 06:00

Oh and maintenance isn't expensive £33 for a new filter twice a year and £7.50 for descaler once a year. The tap has a red light when it needs changing and Qettle also remind you.

It's easy to maintain yourself and they provide detailed YouTube videos showing you how plus clear written guidance.

But you can pay for an engineer visit which is £110 I think (but absolutely no need for this as dead easy to DIY)

The tea and coffee is nicer than when we had a kettle as the water is filtered. Also so convenient to fill a pan when cooking. We got the 4 litre boiler and I've never had to wait for it to heat.

Absolutely love it.

mondaytosunday · 10/06/2024 06:02

Love mine! I've had it three years in current property and I've had it seven years in one I rent out. No issues. I have the three in one. So worth it.

TizerorFizz · 10/06/2024 08:47

A decent tap doesn’t have to be £350. Boiling taps can be well over £1000 with fitting. We found Quooker was £1300. Franke was cheaper and a respected brand. Plus the tap handles matched our Franke tap on our prep sink nearby.

Jeezitneverends · 10/06/2024 08:51

Love ours, had it 2.5 years without issue….we have very soft water so no filter issues

Houseplanter · 10/06/2024 09:12

There's a lot of Quooker positive experience on here..

We have another appointment with the kitchen designer today and will be very interested in how they could get one in, seeing as I want under sink drawers, not a cupboard. If a cupboard is the only way it will mean no Quooker.

Otherwise I think I want one Smile

Thanks for all your comments.

We have a Quooker and love it. Before that we had a cheaper one from Insinkerator and it was rubbish for tea as the water wasn’t hot enough. We drink lots of tea and the Quooker doesn’t taste any different to the water from a kettle. It will need a cupboard though as the tank is quite tall (not that wide)

crumpet · 10/06/2024 09:18

I love mine. Did have to replace the tap after about 8 years (can’t remember what the fault was), and the replacement is fine 2 years on. Hard water area so does need descaling

Houseplanter · 10/06/2024 10:39

@BigDahliaFan thank you. I did some googling after I'd posted and saw that, which makes me think it will be possible. I guess the move towards drawers has made them need to be able to manage them.

So expensive but exciting Smile

Have you got the space? I had to ditch the idea when I realised it would take up a whole cupboard - my kitchen is not big enough - I need the storage 😭

spearker · 10/06/2024 10:42

how much is the upkeep - does it require filters, CO2 etc? how much are they? How often?

Ours doesn't take up a whole cupboard, it's in the cupboard under the sink at the back....still lots of space for stuff...

We love ours and find changing the canisters is incredibly easy - it honestly takes like 5 seconds.

Houseplanter · 10/06/2024 12:42

I'm happy to give up some space for it, we do have plenty of storage.

I am staggered at the price though, even though we are lucky enough to be able to afford it.
