Would you live in a housing estate made only for middle class people?

/afforded only by those with professional salaries?

I’ve always lived in areas where poor and rich live cheek by jowl. But I’m considering move to a housing estate which is designed/afforded only by professional people. So the overall demographics are going to be very middle class because rents range from £2000-£5000

I can’t be too hard on Charles, though. He made and paid for some very sympathetic improvements to public buildings in Princetown, Devon where most of the people are staff in Dartmoor Prison.
Hope Wills keeps up the tradition.

I have neber hesrd of such a thing in London. As people have said price alone won't keep people out. Also is it even legal in the UK to discriminate based on profession or background?

Anyway it sounds awful, one of the joys of London is generally we are all there cheek by jowel and none of this madness about uptight nonsense about not hanging washing lines or hiding the shame of having a bin behind sheds or pictures of flowers.

Our London street is a mix of flats and houses, owners and renters, private and council. We generally all rub along together fine and it is a decent community

I’m in Ireland where the rule is if a housing estate is being built then a percentage (I think 20%) has to be assigned as social housing! So if there’s an elite estate of 20 houses being being built then 4 or so will be social housing. End of.

There's plenty of rich working class people. Have you not seen what plumbers and electricians charge?

To live on the estate you have to apply and pass background checks - they only really let people in who are lawyers, dentists, professors, etc - no I wouldn't make such an application because I wouldn't want to only have nasty entitled snobs for neighbours.

Lots of cities have areas where only the wealthy can afford to live. That's normal. Buy a house you like and can afford.

Am sorry, but speaking as a middle class professional person ,this estate sounds hideous! Stepford wives spring to mind 🤦‍♀️

Not sure where you’d find such a place as modern developments require a minimum percentage of social housing (although exclusively build to rent homes could be exempted).

But in answer to your question, yes, I’d have no issue living somewhere like this. I see a lot of anti-social behaviour in social housing areas through my job. I’d be lying if I said I’d rather not live near it.
