Peak luxury in a property

What would you consider 'luxury' that you would love to have in your house?

For me it would be a seating area in the house where there is no TV. It is purely for chatting/reading. A TV room would be in addition to rather than instead of.

Also a walk in pantry😍

I suppose you could be ridiculous in this thread and say helipad but a bit pointless if you don't have a helicopter in the first place!!

What would you love to have in your home?

a utility room with a huge drying rack

This but it would also be a boot room for taking off muddy boots / trainers and leaving out of the way.

I live in a 3 bed flat (well, 2.5 as one is really a box room). My mother can't get over the fact that I turned the second bedroom into a study and the box room into a walk-in wardrobe Grin

KnickerlessParsons · 02/04/2024 18:10

A drive where you can drive in and then out without having to reverse out.

Iamacatslave · 02/04/2024 18:13

A library.

Cuwins · 02/04/2024 18:26

We are in a flat so my number 1 would be a garden, would also love an attic for storage.
Also on the list would be:
-utility room

  • 2nd living area that could be used for a playroom
  • wet room
  • off road parking for 2 cars

I'd love a walk in pantry with masses of shelves, and a big utility room with space for drying laundry. And a dog shower.

Notoriety · 02/04/2024 18:48

A chef

LindaDawn · 02/04/2024 18:54

A resident hairdresser, failing that a walk in wardrobe.

Karmatime · 02/04/2024 18:56

Big utility room with pulley drying racks (plural) and a walk in wardrobe / dressing room. So much storage that we don’t use every inch of it and still have nowhere to put stuff.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 02/04/2024 18:57

A really, really good shower, but it feels like something money can't reliably buy. I've stayed in posh places with feeble showers, yet I used to rent a flat with a very bog standard-looking shower that was amazing.

A music room, a utility room and a study.

Although right now I'd settle for more than one loo.

I just want another loo to stop the endless child fights!
Also I am dreaming of a bedroom as I'm currently residing in the front room as funds didn't extend to the loft conversion in the end. God I'd love a bedroom 😂

Kitchen diner big enough to fit in both a plumbed-in French style fridge freezer (double doors, drawers and all) AND an island... As you might have guessed, I had to compromise and the fridge still haunts me.

mynamechangemyrules · 02/04/2024 19:00

Oooh and I saw an American house with a laundry chute! Amazing. To a lovely well equipped utility room.

ToBeOrNotToBee · 02/04/2024 19:00

A reading room.
Walls and walls of books, a big comfy leather chair and a few strategically placed lamps.

SiobhanSharpe · 02/04/2024 19:00

A library. And a wine cellar.

spanieleyes · 02/04/2024 19:02

A lift.

Longtimelistenerfirsttimecaller · 02/04/2024 19:04

A garage that has a connecting door to the house so you can a) avoid de-icing your car and b) not get rained on going into the house.

One of those really deep freestanding baths.

A shower set inside a spiral wall so you don’t have to open or close a door you just walk round.

A pantry.

SpiritOfEcstasy · 02/04/2024 19:05

Spare room. Walk in pantry. Dressing room. Utility room. Study. A sauna. Gym. En-suite bathroom.

anxioussister · 02/04/2024 19:07

My next house wishes would be…

  • A garden which is totally private / not overlooked by anyone else at all.
  • a drinks fridge in the gym for cold towels + iced water
  • A walk in coat cupboard downstairs
  • a board game table space - somewhere specifically set up to play board games with my family - that isn’t the kitchen or dining room. Maybe a board game library…
hexsnidgett · 02/04/2024 19:10

A secret room only accessed by a Scooby Doo revolving fireplace.

smogsville · 02/04/2024 20:24

A LIBRARY. That's the dream.

Movinghouseatlast · 02/04/2024 20:29

Massive utility room/ boot room with fitted handmade solid wood units.

A huge copper freestanding bath.

Swimming pool

Big greenhouse with brick knee high walls. A potting shed.

YourNimblePeachTraybake · 02/04/2024 20:35

My first thought was a drying room with overhead pulleys.
My second is a big enough garden shed for tools, lawnmower, my bike and an outside loo.

Digimoor · 02/04/2024 20:47

Second dishwasher
Utility with space to fold laundry
Hot tub (sex pond)
Sauna
