Farrow and Ball whites

Agh so the decorator wants to buy the paints on the way in tomorrow (though he is doing a mist coat first). Coming to the end of full house renovation, so full house being decorated. North facing rooms and south facing rooms.

Ive tested Wevet, Ammonite, Strong White and Wimborne White. I’m totally decision fatigued but don’t have the time to spend looking in different lights etc.

I like Wevet, Strong White and Wimborne. Wevet I’m concerned is too ‘pure white’ and other two I’m concerned might look yellow or magnolia.

Can anyone help me come to a decision? 🙈 I’m wondering about Wevet for the south facing and Wimborne for the north facing rooms?

The south facing kitchen and diner has a dark blue kitchen and wood effect floor tiles so I don’t want white walls.

I’m going through exactly the same situation right now and my decorator is picking up a bunch of Wimborne in the morning. I’ve used it in several houses. It’s such as easygoing colour!

I have strong white in most of the house. Stunning colour. Ammonite is in the dining room and it's definitely more a light mushroom colour, even got a hint of purple to it.

I love strong white and it's now my go to colour.

Wimborne looked quite yellow in my west facing room. I love slaked lime by little greene - it's my favourite 'white'

How is strong white in a north facing room?

We have wevet in our south facing rooms and it looks stunning, but tried it in north facing and it looked really cold. So I'd say, mix it up depending on the room

AhNowTed · 28/02/2024 19:11

Most of our house is Wevet, it looks kind of a faint grey.

The hall, stairs and landing are All White - very nice.

ApolloandDaphne · 28/02/2024 19:12

We have Wimborne white all through our house and i love it. It changes colour slightly as the light moves through the house and it never looks harsh, I don't think it looks yellow but it is soft.

confusedlots · 28/02/2024 19:12

Following as I need similar help! My kitchen is very similar to your's. Ammonite is definitely too dark for what I want, but none of them look anything like the samples when you try them on the walls!

Ketzele · 28/02/2024 19:40

I love Strong White, it's a true neutral. It seems to not go yellow, cold or warm when shadowed, just kind of deeper.

I’m thinking of Wevet for the south facing rooms. The decorator said those rooms will be first so I can decide other colour for north facing tomorrow! 🙈

I find Slipper Satin very versatile. It's one of the older FB colours

AnnaMagnani · 28/02/2024 19:47

I have Wimborne White throughout my house. I have low ceilings so the house tends to be dark. It is a nice soft white white throughout and never looks yellowy.

WinningBV · 28/02/2024 19:55

We went with Strong White throughout the majority of the house and I love it. It looks great in all lights. We have a dark corridor with little natural light and I appreciate the colour more there than in the south facing rooms.

Who are all these decorators using Farrow and Ball?! Ours told us it was shite quality paint and to save our money. So we did!

Colour matched at B&Q.

Plmoknijbuhv · 28/02/2024 20:08

I love strong white and have in our halls, kitchen/diner and en suite

sheeplikessleep · 28/02/2024 20:10

Yes our decorator is using Johnstones but he’d match to any colour.

Though the F&B testers have impressed me - feels a very deep pigment and easy to apply. Not watery. But I am probably influenced by the marketing 😂

Agh so it seems a very even mix of preferences between my short list.

Lovely, more of a page grey stone undertone. Definitely not yellow.

Maybeicanhelpyou · 28/02/2024 20:13

I have strong white in north facing rooms, definitely not yellow, if anything very slightly grey and moody, gorgeous!!

Turkeyhen · 28/02/2024 20:14

I have Wimborne through my downstairs rooms (SW facing, low ceilings) and tbh it's boring Confused it's a soft white. Dull! I wish i had gone for something else. Maybe Wimborne works better in north facing rooms?

mackchar · 28/02/2024 20:14

I have Wevet in my west facing bedroom and it looks beautiful, almost ethereal

I've had strong white everywhere for years! I utterly loved it.

I now think it's time to change - I'm loving more muted, warm tones & that's my plan moving ahead.

But I did love my 'strong white' walls!

I agree.
