Easiest/cheapest way to hide these pipes? (photo)

Downstairs loo. Don’t care about the horizontal pipe (didn’t have the money or the room to box it in), but I would like to hide the ones under the sink.

Any ideas please?

Excuse the dirt and mess, still decorating after the build!

It’s only a very small corner sink.

A small under sink curved cabinet might work? Then cut out a hole for the waste pipe out of it.

EdithGrantham · 28/12/2023 20:35

A freestanding under sink vanity unit?

Whathappenstomyal · 28/12/2023 20:37

Not sure what the point of hiding the ones under the sink is if you leave the horizontal one? You could paint them white so they didn’t stand out so much?
Exposed pipes is one of my pet hates so I’d have to get rid of them all.

Cobot · 28/12/2023 20:40

How about prettier pipes? Copper, steel?

Redskyatwhatever · 28/12/2023 20:41

The down pipes would look less obvious if they were white maybe wind round electrical tape. Otherwise go old school and get a sink skirt or alter a corner cupboard to fit.

PhillMichellsbrother · 28/12/2023 20:45

It’s a very small sink - all the cupboards are too big!

And yes, in an ideal world all the pipes would be boxed in but it was a small space - you wouldn’t have been able to sit on the loo if the horizontal one was boxed in! The original loo had no sink in the room and was just the brick wall with no plasterboard, so we didn’t realise until the builders showed us the problem that the room would be much narrower with plasterboard.

Sink skirt could work! It’s curved though.

I have a freestanding toilet roll holder, holds four spare rolls which would hide the pipes........can you tell I don't own a drill😳

RandomMess · 28/12/2023 20:50

A storage unit stood in front of it?

I have one of those stood by the loo! I will
move it for now, why didn’t I think of that!

Dh thinks a tall wicker basket. Will keep a look out.

That’s a new sink? It’s awful. I’m assuming the basin waste pipe feeds into the loo waste? Can it not run along above the skirting and be boarded in. Then put a curtain round the sink. There was room to box it in. You build out the wall by the door and use that wall.

It’s a very tiny space. And we had a very tiny budget. We weren’t going to do that loo but we had a tiny bit spare so the builders did it. Bare minimum.

We were just going to cap it off and have it as a cupboard but figured any loo and sink is better than no loo and sink value wise. But we were down to pennies so this is what we ended up with to make the best of!

Paint all pipes same as the wall including the waste pipe
then stand some fake plants in pots under the sink

TizerorFizz · 28/12/2023 21:37

I would have saved up some more money. This devalues the house. Sorry.

Maybe they aren't planning to ever sell? Once the room is decorated it'll be fine, add something under the sink and no issue

My pipe work is all boxed in and it's a nightmare. If there was ever a leak I would have to pay to redo all the boxing

Hohofortherobbers · 28/12/2023 21:46

Get some radsnaps to cover the pipes, you can get them in chrome look or white, will snap onto pipes and either disguise them or accentuate them in seconds.

Helpful. Pop in your Tardis OP.
Or:
Could you get a curved towel rail instead of a skirt, so the towel would hide the pipes? The hardest thing to hide is the plastic u-bend.
But at least you have a functioning cloakroom and you can improve it when you have the funds.

I was going to suggest this, white ones, then put your loo roll holder or something else in front of it if they're still bothering you.

I'm another one wondering why the plastic pipe goes horizontal so far from the floor though, surely it could have been much lower?!

I honestly don’t think it would devalue it that much! It’s a pipe in a downstairs loo in an old house that has quite a few exposed bits and bobs as old houses do.

No idea. We had a small budget and it was an afterthought with all the other stuff we had to have done to make the house up to standard. You should have seen how it was before, this is luxury compared. It was like the loo out of Trainspotting.

Mespher · 28/12/2023 22:05

It's similar to our downstairs loo, DH did make a small cupboard at first but it got an tatty over the years so that was removed and I bought a sink skirt from eBay for about a fiver, I decided I didn't like that so now we have just painted the pipes and stood a box that contains the bleach in front of it. Our house is a 30s house and the room not really what you would call cloakroom more a basic loo at the back end of the house

TizerorFizz · 28/12/2023 22:07

I still would have left it until I had funds and project managed it.

Mespher · 28/12/2023 22:09

Project manage a few sink pipes😂😂🤣

trickyex · 28/12/2023 22:10

Paint them white and either add a curved towel rail below the basin with a nice waffle towel to distract the eye (H&M) or a basket with loo rolls.
