The nail-biting wait continues….

Jaq27 · 23/01/2024 11:55

Hi @ibelieveinmirrorballs I was hoping you’d be updating with good news :/
we have started decluttering - boxes and boxes of books, games and puzzles have gone to charity.
SOLD OUR HUGE SOFAS and now the fear becomes real when you walk through an empty room and realise there’s nowhere to sit and you still haven’t exchanged on your new house so you begin to panic.
EEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeek

AutumnNymph · 23/01/2024 12:52

Joining the agonising wait. Chased the solicitor again and he needs someone to check the status on the system and will get back to me.

ShittyGlitter · 23/01/2024 13:03

@Jaq27 what a nightmare! Do you have any storage lined up? Or a back up plan of somewhere to go?

We were supposed to exchange and complete before Xmas. We packed up so much stuff to make our lives easier at the time, now I'm practically unpacking because I'm fed up living out of boxes.

Why is this so stressful, my mood has been up and down for so long. It's exhausting.

Jaq27 · 23/01/2024 13:15

@ShittyGlitter Exhausting is the right word 🥺
and worried.
I thought you’d be on your way by now SG!?! Why does everything take so looooong???
why don’t sols action stuff in the first weeks ??? Why ??
as for ongoing plans we are left thinking about renting but that really fucks up our life in many many ways. We also run our own business which adds to the stress.
DH mentioned pulling out of our sale and staying put for now but I can’t bear to think of starting this process again in the near future.
i feel very anxious about what might come next.
its been a relief to be able to vent on here x @AutumnNymph

ibelieveinmirrorballs · 23/01/2024 13:16

Sorry everyone else is on the agonising wait too. I’m coping by doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to declutter etc - I can’t bring myself to in case it goes tits up. Which obviously I could live to regret.

This is exactly us. We thought we were being efficient and packed up so much. Am just tired of the unpredictability.

AutumnNymph · 23/01/2024 13:20

@Jaq27 this, a thousand times over. I wanted to just scream when the sol called yday asking for some stuff.
If I did things so last min, I would lose my job.

ShittyGlitter · 23/01/2024 13:23

@Jaq27 oh I am on my way at all, still awaiting our chain reforming and crossing everything that it won't fall apart again.

ShittyGlitter · 23/01/2024 13:24

That should say I'm NOT on my way at all

Jaq27 · 23/01/2024 14:15

This!!!!!! >>> 'Am just tired of the unpredictability' - @AutumnNymph

Sorry to hear that @ShittyGlitter bloody nightmare x

@ibelieveinmirrorballs Our house isn't completely boxed up as I'm scared that it might 'Jinx' the whole thing.
Totally irrational but it's all I have.

In slightly brighter news, just heard back from our sol who says we would NOT need to wait for the leasehold title to be removed entirely before we can proceed with our sale and purchase.
But some 'legal undertaking' stuff we'd need from the seller’s solicitor regarding the leasehold title following completion.
So now we continue waiting and hoping they will submit the application SOON to the Land Registry with a request that they expedite the application 'which could take less than 10 working days' 😴ZZZZ ZZZ zzzz
Anyway, just chasing up the sol and the EA for updates has made me feel a bit more hopeful.

AutumnNymph · 23/01/2024 16:32

We have exchanged , completion is on the 5th.

IronNeonClasp · 23/01/2024 17:24

Hello. Joining. Accepted an offer on my tiny 2-bed house. FTB’s apparently but I’m dreading what the survey will throw up as work has been factored into the selling price sale and accepted offer 5k under sale price so I literally can’t take more off the house 😩
I’ve found something I like but it’s totally over valued IMO. Going to see it again tomorrow and will maybe put a cheeky/sensible offer in.

ShittyGlitter · 23/01/2024 17:27

I'm clinging to everyone else's good news to cheer me up!

@Jaq27 hurrah! One less thing to wait on thankfully

And congratulations @AutumnNymph! That is not far away!

Jaq27 · 23/01/2024 17:42

Congratulations @AutumnNymph !!! and phew.
Hope the rest of your move prep goes smoothly.

Fidgety31 · 23/01/2024 17:44

I exchanged today and compete next Tuesday - I only viewed the house in December so it all gone very quickly (empty chain free house)
this is after I pulled out of a previous purchase that had dragged on for eight months (chain free) with no commitment from the seller to move .

AutumnNymph · 23/01/2024 17:49

Congrats @Fidgety31

CharlOctober · 23/01/2024 18:44

Hey everyone, joining on this thread because I'm SO anxious already and feel we have a long way to go still! Accepted an offer on our house in Dec, had an offer accepted on a house we like 5th Jan, they found pretty quick but now the owners of the house they're buying need to find somewhere. Feels like a never ending chain!

Our buyer is a FTB and seems really motivated, sorted searches and mortgage straight away and we've just received enquiries which were fairly straight forward minus a mad scramble looking for various certificates! So really don't want to lose them if this chain gets much longer! Already feel so anxious and it's been pretty straightforward. Been reading through all your situations and really feel for you guys who it's been dragging on for. Sending lots of good vibes!

noodles44 · 23/01/2024 19:47

Well done @AutumnNymph and @Fidgety31
I am feeling the pain of the agonising wait. My buyers have decided, 3 months into the process that a dropped kerb is very important to them, other houses in my road have them, I have a tarmac front garden and park my car there as the kerb isn't high. They checked with the council and they say they will not be allowed to drop the kerb as the rules have changed, si the house has to be a certain distance away from the pavement or it will not be allowed.

We were about ready to exchange, I was hoping to move in half term week and my buyers have gone away to think about what they want now, so I guess it depends if this kerb is a deal breaker for them. They still really love the house, so it is just an agonising will they won't they pull out type wait for me...

Areyootakingthepish · 23/01/2024 19:54

@noodles44 someone put up a thread about this a little while ago where they were parking on the front drive but there was no drop kerb - and the council told them to stop parking as they were not allowed to drive over the pavement without it. Do you have any other parking?

noodles44 · 23/01/2024 19:56

@Areyootakingthepish no, just street parking, which is never an issue as lots of space.

Jaq27 · 23/01/2024 20:10

Congratulations @Fidgety31 ! That was nice and quick.
we also went for an empty vacant possession house but it’s still managed to be a bit complicated. Our offer was accepted first week of November.
hoping to move in first week of February but that’s looking dicey now.

winewolfhowls · 23/01/2024 20:20

Hi, can I join? House selling novice here.
We have valuations, the vague mortgage thing (mip?) and are frantically trying to declutter before we get our estate agents in for the pictures in February. Kind of dreading the whole process tbh.

onthefence23 · 24/01/2024 07:41

Still no exchange here. Feel like I'm losing my mind but plodding along with packing and decluttering!

Welcome new joiners I hope your journey is quick and smooth

AutumnNymph · 24/01/2024 08:55

@onthefence23 that's so frustrating!

I finally slept well after the exchange yesterday, while the next two weeks are going to be manic, atleast we have some confirmation now and are able to actually plan dates rather than be in a limbo.

Sending exchangey luck to everyone !

Welcome new joiners

hopingforthemillion · 24/01/2024 09:37

oh my goodness @noodles44 that is so frustrating after all this time 😫
🙏🏻 it doesn’t change their minds and you can proceed.
Our sign is up and we have one viewing booked already, it’s not even listed yet so I hope it’s not just a nosey old neighbour but someone who really wants our area 🤷🏻‍♀️
