Last minute delay for completion nightmare

We are supposed to be completing today but our lawyers IT system is completely down and they have been unable to transfer the money. Has anyone experienced something similar and what happened next? Our sellers just rung us panicking as they have had all their stuff packed up and we have loads to deliveries booked to the new house tomorrow (whiteware, furniture etc). We are bottom of the chain - will be liable for everyone’s costs even if it’s our lawyers fault?

Ugh! It's driving me mad. I'm thanking my lucky stars mine is just a remortgage but from the Taylor Rose update someone posted above, it sounds like they don't know any more than we do!

We have no further news either. Haven’t exchanged, supposed to complete on Friday 8.

@Carlymc3107 I hope that’s true. I’ve noticed the solicitors in our chain have all gone to ground today, none of us can seem to get an update. I wondering if that’s because they’re expecting good news tomorrow!

We’re not affected by TR but hopefully If they’re back others will be too.

My buyers mortgage offer runs out soon so if we don’t complete in the next 2 weeks I don’t know what will happen. Especially as we have already exchanged. Their deposit is a lot less than mine too so I could end up in a very tricky situation.

I just wish we could get a date (although I’m not sure I’d trust it after this mess anyway)

I hope it all works out for you! We haven't exchanged but my mortgage offer runs out on the 29th due to Christmas the last day to exchange os the 12th so really on thin ice

It's so frustrating for everyone. A number of us thought we were out of the woods only to find we weren't. I've lost my appetite and got two and a half hours sleep last night. Once things do start shifting it will be a challenge to find a remover who is free! My internet was cut off today despite me telling BT last Wednesday I wasn't moving today. (And haven't even exchanged) Grrrrrr it's literally like herding cats as you can't organise anything. I guess I'm still quite lucky though, that I haven't had to abandon to a hotel as my buyer is cash at the bottom of the chain.

@LynBin100 Same here, I'm working from a 4G dongle which is okay but not the same! I'm the opposite to you though, I haven't stopped eating and that's not something I can afford to do!

My biggest worry is that my buyers solicitor will just push it through when they can with no notice to the rest of the chain and that we won't be able to get removals. I have made it clear that if it completes like that, I won't be moving until I can get removals and they'll just have to wait. My buyer has been lovely and said that's fair enough.

Like you I try and remind myself that we have a roof over our heads, it could be worse.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of us.

It definitely help's to be able to get it all out on here!

@Carlymc3107 I hope you get your exchange sorted soon too.

Edited to add: It is bloody frustrating though!

@anyusernamesnotused BT are sending me a mini hub tomorrow which I can use until I move. Unless you are vacant possession, everyone will need to agree a new completion date in your chain.

I agree about the support here though, it's been a lifeline for us all.

@LynBin100 I wonder what that means - do you think its just that they couldn't get hold of them in time?

Hopefully you will exchange tomorrow by the looks of that.

@anyusernamesnotused it's a weird one. You could be right. On Friday though it was a different excuse but I now think there are 6 in our chain and not 5, which makes it damned tricky without all this malarkey

I'm phoning TR tomorrow then! I'd guess they'll prioritise movers - which I think is absolutely right. But if they're starting to get going again I at least want to know when I can expect my remortgage to happen!
