Mice, a hand hold please

I'm awake again after maybe 2 hours of sleep where I chased a sodding mouse in my dream. Was getting my daughter to sleep, lying in bed with her, singing a song, when mouse shoots into view. It must have gone under the skirting (we have some major floating skirtings) as we moved everything but couldn't find it. I feel physically sick, never seen one upstairs before. Known about them in the kitchen (directly below daughters room) for about a week. So far 2 mouse motels and 1 electric trap baited with peanut butter have failed to catch any. Will be stuffing wire wool under the skirting tomorrow, but that doesn't help me right now. Dd in my bed now, which doesn't make it much easier to sleep.
I honestly thought that the mice would stay away from us, I'm utterly shocked by how bold this one was. I was bloody singing at the time, it must have known we were in the room!

Mouse on the sofa 😱
Cat is sadly not an option for us.
Been horribly ill this week, so the mice have been left to their own devices

I really feel for you @OctoblocksAssemble . Did you have any joy with another pest controller?

romatheroamer · 10/12/2023 11:57

It seeks to be a London thing, I can think of only one house in London where I didn't have them. Never had them in the country
Found wire wool blocking any entrances rewŵŵ

Worked!

I dunno, I've always lived in London, but in modern houses. Never had a problem before this house.
I think my house probably has its own magnetic field by now...

@wornoutparent I did not even have the energy to make phone calls last week, I actually rank this as the third most dreadful bug I have ever caught from the kids (after HF&M and norovirus).
Will try to get some quotes next week though.

I hope you're fully recovered @OctoblocksAssemble and are having a bit more luck at your place. I'm hoping you're having a better time.

From my side I'm happy to say no evidence of any mouse activity for the last 2 weeks or so now. Although I'm hopeful they've gone, I've still got bait down in key areas which I'll keep an eye on. I've left some traps out but not as many as previous.

I still feel jumpy every time I hear a strange noise (of which there are plenty in this house) and I'm convinced it won't be the last I see of them, but it does feel like progress.

Have faith you'll get rid of yours as if they can be controlled in my creaky old house, I'm sure they can be controlled anywhere.

I'm feeling much better now, thanks, @wornoutparent . The kids have brought home yet another bug, so it probably won't last, sigh.
2 weeks clear is fantastic, hopefully they are gone for good. Understandable that it might take a while to feel confident of that though.
We are at minimal mouse. I'm uncomfortably aware it doesn't take long for thier numbers to replenish, but I've parked the hunt for pest control until after Christmas. Just bought some snap traps, will see if they do anything.

Despite having DGirlcat 2 we had a mouse. What worked for us was a humans trap and chocolate. They also like crisps. Eventually after 2 days it went into the trap.
