Washing machines

We're just redoing the kitchen and are about to order appliances. Washing machines seem to range from around £400 to £800. I've always gone for the cheapest models before and not had any issues. Are the more expensive ones worth it? What's so special about them?

If you’ve landed here looking for washing machine recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best washing machine page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

I got one with a fast spin speed. Faster spin, easier clothes to dry. At 1200 rpm a lot of clothes come out almost dry and a double spin removes more.

I think once you start getting over 1200 rpm it is the law of diminishing returns. So 1600 rpm only gets you 5% less water than 1200 rpm. Or something.

Mine is 1600 rpm.

Mine is also a dryer, but I never use the dryer bit. People say they break down more but I've not had any issues.

Energy rating is important if you do a lot of washing.

Mine was about £300. Before rampant inflation.

Select a machine with a brushless motor. Saves on inconvenient down time and is more energy efficient.

Thank you both. Need integrated and none of them have brushless motors unfortunately. Definitely want one with a large drum and fast spin.

I’ve got a Miele, it’s been great. I recently found the receipt, dated 2003.
