5G mast directly outside house

Today I have been made aware about the proposal of a 5g mast that would size 2.5m away from my children’s bedrooms.

I’ve objected on the website and neighbours are doing the same.

We haven’t been informed on the proposal until someone campaigning about them knocked on my door this afternoon.

The plans they used are outdated. The property has been extended so sits closer to the mast than in their plans and I believe the address they used is not accurate. We also have expressed health concerns and it not being in keeping with a residential area.

is there anything else we can do?

It might turn your children into aliens…

OP it’s fine, I’m assuming you have smartphones in your house. These smart phones are around you and you kids all the time. You’ll be exposed to the signals anyway. Please look at peer reviewed scientific evidence instead of the mirror when you want to find out facts. Radiation is damaging to human health when it’s ionising. 5g radiation is non-ionising, radiation literally just refers to waves that you can’t see. The frequency of 5g is roughly 25-50 GHz and radiation doesn’t become ionising until about 3,000,000 GHz. It’s like saying Luke warm water will scold your finger - it won’t. Your kids will be fine. Please stop believing in conspiracy theories.

Maybe OP just doesn't like sight of them?

She said she was worried about the health effects!

Cotswoldbee · 25/08/2023 23:24

This has been an issue since mobile phones were introduced.
To provide coverage, masts of one kind or another are required and in busy, built up areas with high population (and therefore phone use) more masts are required which means they end up being close to someone. In this case they have chosen a position next to your house but depending on the infrastructure required it could easily have been on the opposite side of the road, around the corner etc.
It is your right to object and you might even be successful but as demand is ever increasing you can be certain that if this mast doesn't get installed, there will be one very close by.

Health = no need to worry

Eyesore = yes I wouldn’t want to look at that monstrosity every day

AngryBirdsNoMore · 25/08/2023 23:26

What health effects…?

yzme · 25/08/2023 23:30

I have asked if there are other steps I can take as I do not want it directly outside my house, pretty much on the boundary line. That is why I posted on property rather than chat.

I haven’t asked for your opinions on health etc.

I absolutely would keep in contact with the group who are opposing them, in my area a group who ( very rightfully) opposed made the council change their decision. I've recently started seeing the masts pop up but as far as I've seen they've been placing them outside of residential areas like on the outskirts x

yzme · 25/08/2023 23:34

Thank you for a helpful response :)

I get your health concerns, it's a shame a majority are 😴 x

If you don't want opinions on health effects then don't mention it in your post.

It's not uncommon for replies to be completely irrelevant to the poster's original question, but you actually mentioned it.

People just try to help in whatever way they can.

HangingOver · 25/08/2023 23:51

There are loads round here now and you do honestly stop seeing them quite quickly. I think because they're a light colour they're no more of an eyesore than lampposts.

yzme · 25/08/2023 23:57

The issue is how close it is to my property. It’s basically outside my kitchen door.

Health risks was just one of the things I mentioned.

Im asking if there are any other steps I can take to try and object or appeal it. Thought someone on here might knowledgable in this area!

Nimby? Nimfy?

Laboriprofumi · 26/08/2023 08:43

I wouldn't like it either op.

Razberryberet · 26/08/2023 11:13

We unfortunately have one at the end of our street. I'm not a home owner but other home owners closer to the tower did object it made no difference possible because it was only a few. The only thing I can suggest is looking up planning permission on your local councils website you will find the contact details for the person assigned to the case they may be able to tell you more.
I know you didn't ask but In regards to health I don't think any one can say it isn't harmful we haven't had this technology long enough for anyone to know if it's harmful but it is listed as a possible carcinogen with the WHO I wish you luck I hope they decide not to go ahead.

pizzicato · 26/08/2023 18:44

I have sent you a message

Riapia · 26/08/2023 19:43

Bet they don’t put one outside of 10 Downing Street.

Bet they don’t put one outside of 10 Downing Street.

Bet there is one very close to No.10 as coverage in a busy city (especially the capital) is a must.
Won't be freestanding masts though, will located on top of existing buildings.

Ariela · 26/08/2023 22:43

I would think, being so near a junction, there could be insufficient width of path to allow safe passage of wheelchair users etc so near to a junction. That might be a more valid complaint. I suggest you measure the distance from your boundary to the kerb, and see how much room is left to pass a wheelchair user after the mast is added - would a pedestrian have to step into the road to pass at that point? In which case the proposed location of the mast is very near the junction, which could lead to accidents if people coming round the corner have to step off the path to avoid a wheelchair/pram.

schloss · 26/08/2023 23:38

I fully understand your concerns, my suggestion would be to research other groups who are also objecting to 5G masts in residential areas, very close to houses and see if they have employed or can put you in touch with planning consultants who specialise in objections to the masts.

humtv · 26/08/2023 23:46

I would contact your local MP and your mayor as well setting out your concerns. Do some research on successful objections to other masts and put forward those reasons to the above mentioned people. Also find out who in council is responsible for the portfolio and contact them

MakeADecision · 27/08/2023 13:40

There is nothing in that article that states that having a 5G mast impacts on health though?

yzme · 28/08/2023 07:09

Thank you for comments. Will get measuring and contacting local councillors etc.
