I’d be more bothered about going arse over tit on the gravestones poking out of the patio.

fuckityfuckityfuckfuck · 09/08/2023 16:51

I really like the pews as a dining set up. Going to add that to my dream house. Make it into a tudor banqueting Hall!

Mooserp · 09/08/2023 16:51

Would it be illegal to dig them up?

Dead nice

Dead quiet too.

I like it! Different anyway!

I find the sofa position and those new builds staring straight in more off- putting than the headstones!

I think so. I know it's illegal to build over cemeteries.

ladeluge · 09/08/2023 16:54

It is nicely done, but it is for someone who would appreciate the quirkiness of it.

If I was forced to live there, I would... but I would definitely have the headstones moved to the perimeter, and a flat slab put in where the grave surrounds are. Then it would be easy to mow the lawn, but I wouldn't want to dig down too deep either to plant anything!

Some goth will snap it up.

Oh my. But also why would you put the sofa like that in front of the TV?!

That’s the thing that stood out?

VinEtFromage · 09/08/2023 17:15

I am not at all religious, but I love converted churches/chapels etc.

The gravestones (& bodies) wouldn't bother me & I could imagine it planted out nicely.

However, I'd need there to be a good area of garden that is free of gravestones & bodies so that the kids, dogs etc could play freely without worry.

...but the inside conversion is dreadful. So I wouldn't buy it.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 09/08/2023 17:17

Relocate the grave stones?

Have they not seen Poltergeist??

tattygrl · 09/08/2023 12:41

Oh I absolutely adore this!

I agree, some of the conversion could be better, but overall I actually find it quite characterful and charming. Definitely unusual, and definitely retains specific features of the old chapel.

Everyone will be different on this, but it wouldn't bother me at all that there were graves in the garden. As long as there was a part of the garden that was grave-free that you could just enjoy and not be prompted to ponder mortality and death 😂. I think I'd enjoy being custodian of those old resting places.

What an interesting and charming property, thanks for sharing this!

My exact thoughts. I'd love this!

Dragonwindow · 09/08/2023 17:18

I'd love to live in a converted Chapel (with double height entrance hall to exposed rafters, a mezzanine floor, plenty of stained glass. I've hardly thought about it at all 😉) with a proper grave yard, but these just look like random gravestones fenced into a new build box garden.

Userwithallthenumbers · 09/08/2023 17:23

It is possible that the graveyard itself has been cleared and the stones have just been positioned as features. Not to my taste, but it takes all sorts.

JimnJoyce · 09/08/2023 17:29

I love it!

Mischance · 09/08/2023 17:37

A friend of mine bought and converted a church, so their garden was a graveyard. They did some lovely things with it, creating a gallery all around and converting the tower (up a spiral staircase) into a bedroom with a glass domed roof.

The garden could be let run wild a bit in keeping with the old stones.

Inside it is a bit boring, apart from the use of the old pews in the dining area.
