Always said I couldn't be bothered with a doer upper...but our circumstances have changed and its unlikely we'll get a mortgage for what we'd want. With selling my current home plus savings we could buy this without a mortgage.

Looks good, do you live in the area already or would it be a major move?

Sandals12 · 20/04/2023 01:24

No not a major move at all.

In a heartbeat. Good kerb appeal, light level, room sizes. Change the internal doors and apart from weird blue bathroom suite, there's nothing majorly offence enough that couldn't be put up with for a year or two.

Sandals12 · 20/04/2023 01:24

No not a major move at all.

In that case, yeah I'd definitely go for it!

LemonSwan · 20/04/2023 01:34

I wouldn’t even class that a doer upper. Has radiators. Windows and doors look in good Nick. Woodwork looks impeccable. Absolutely love the drive!

greenspaces4peace · 20/04/2023 02:02

looks fine to me, lovely big yard, open space. very typical north american style home. is the road a major freeway?

carriedout · 20/04/2023 02:06

If the survey is good, then maybe. It's not my kind of location but if it is yours then go for it!

Growlybear83 · 20/04/2023 02:31

I don't know the area or how the price compares with other properties on the market but I'd buy the house without hesitation. It would be perfectly habitable whilst you're renovating and it's got so much potential.

Monty27 · 20/04/2023 02:36

It's another yes from me 👍🏻

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 20/04/2023 02:54

House looks great, however it is close to the motorway and what might be a chicken farm and sound travels...

OrchidsBlooming · 20/04/2023 04:23

Good bones of it, I'd say the bathroom, kitchen and utility need updating; that pond out front looks a bit ropey, but the rest is cosmetic, although I'd budget for new internal doors and doing something with that fireplace.

And maybe longer term, think of what you could do with all that storage (maybe a second bathroom next to the utility? ) and the greenhouse/shed thingy because that's a lot of space not being utilised

GoodChat · 20/04/2023 06:02

I love it. It looks functional enough to move straight into and update to your tastes over time but the current decor is completely inoffensive and there's so much land for so little money!

Gruf · 20/04/2023 06:05

Yes, so much potential

spotddog · 20/04/2023 07:04

Lovely house. EPC is very poor so will be hard to heat. If you are anyway handy, interior of exterior walls could be dry-lined/insulated as you decorate each room.

knittingaddict · 20/04/2023 07:10

Love the bathroom suite. Please say that's staying.

The condition is pretty much the same as every house we've bought - basically sound with a few things that needed changing. I don't love the colour of the doors and windows but that's a minor issue.

The fireplace is awful, but once again it's a minor quibble.

Lcb123 · 20/04/2023 07:17

Looks lovely-I wouldn’t call that a doer-uper! Just needs some modernising but you could easily live there straight away

Theraffarian · 20/04/2023 07:35

A doer upper around here would be more likely to have ceilings falling down and a garden so overgrown you couldn’t see the boundaries. So the work to make this home wouldn’t bother me at all on this one .

I have no idea of prices in your area ( the price of this may possibly run to a run down flat where I am , so extremely jealous though ! ) .

From the pictures the main things I would want to check would be how easy it is to get rid of the pond , how much usable garden there is , if that interests you , there seems to be a lot of either frontage or slope grass which will need pesky mowing but probably won’t be as usable for much . Also damp in the photos later on in the listing .

By the by ,I’ve always been a strictly white sanitary ware person , but I think I could love that dark blue loo, but where the heck would you get a replacement seat for it , or again maybe only my household that runs through loo seats at a ridiculous rate .

Unsure33 · 20/04/2023 07:38

Do you have the funds for the work ? It needs a survey I think . But loads of potential . But I can see the costs being quite high especially getting the outside in order .

Timeforchangeithink · 20/04/2023 07:41

I only got as far as the triple window and the fireplace buy it it's fabulous

Daisiesandprimroses · 20/04/2023 07:42

I’d not call that a doer upper either. Sure it’s dated but that stuff can be done in time.

C4tastrophe · 20/04/2023 07:47

When it’s raining, go and stand in the garden and listen to the motorway.
Otherwise it’s a nice place to come home to!

RobinaHood · 20/04/2023 07:48

I wouldn't call that a doer-upper. It all looks cosmetic unless you've read a home report that says there are other issues?
I wouldn't buy it because of the location. But if you like the location, then go ahead.

MinPinSins · 20/04/2023 08:24

I wouldn't call that a doer upper. Outdated, bit everything looks functional. If that's the case, you could just get round to making changes at your own pace. I'd definitely buy it, if that's the kind of thing I was in the market for. It looks very spacious!

Giggorata · 20/04/2023 08:31

i would, like a shot. Great price, the basics are there, the site is nice. You can do the work and get things done according to your taste over time.

ElizabethBest · 20/04/2023 08:32

No, the bedrooms are all quite small.
