house next to the woodland, dog walking...

I found a house for sale which is just next to the a park, I can see there are neighbours walking dogs near the house, some are far(30 metres), some are near the house(12 meters), I like dogs but no plan to get one, of course the dogs pee in the woodland, it is just a feeling: a big dogs toilet next the house!
this is very good area, I realized people keep the woodland nice and clean, there are rarely rubbish or plastic bag around.
thanks.

... and your question is?

KangarooKenny · 01/02/2023 10:01

🤔

Clymene · 01/02/2023 10:01

If they're walking the dogs from further away, the dogs will have done their big pee immediately after leaving their house. Dogs reserve small amounts for marking stuff with their scent but I don't think you'd notice.

I have a dog and walk him in woodland where many dogs are walked. Never noticed a dog pee smell!

sanityisamyth · 01/02/2023 10:01

I don't understand the point of the post. Are you trying to decide whether to buy the house? Has it got a private garden? If so, the dogs won't come onto your property. Is the wood on the deeds of the house? If there's a footpath or public access, there's not much you can do.

KangarooKenny · 01/02/2023 10:01

I’d be more worried about kids kicking a ball against the fence/wall.

C4tastrophe · 01/02/2023 10:07

I’d be more worried about actual dogging in the woods.

imiami · 01/02/2023 10:08

My question is: shall I consider this house, as the location is very good for me, I can save traffic time a lot

Or jumping the fence into your garden to retrieve said ball

Why have you name changed?

How can anyone here tell you if it's worth considering? We don't know the area, price, budget, condition of house etc.

Presumably you're the OP with a name change. If so, we can't really help as you've given us next to no information. The dogs aren't a concern, if that's the question.

If you want it, buy it. If you don't, don't.

imiami · 01/02/2023 10:13

the public path is just next to the house(2 meters), then it is the woodland is the public park, this park is not small.
Yes, I am considering if it is worth to buy.

Alexandernevermind · 01/02/2023 10:15

Yup, doggers and glue sniffers (do they still do that?) would be my main concern, not a passing dog having an occasional wee.

LydiaBin · 01/02/2023 10:16

What is your actual concern, though? The smell of dog pee (there won't be any, woods are quite good at dissipating it)? The actual fact that dogs are peeing near you? The flow of human and canine traffic past your window? The noise?

The dog pee wouldn't bother me; the passers by might, if they're close enough to peer into your house constantly. But the convenience of being near woodland would be a plus for me, although I have dogs!

The main thing is, do you like the house?!

Fenella123 · 01/02/2023 10:16

If it's next to a park there's more concern about burglary (much easier to hop over a back fence, unseen, from the park, than if someone's garden just backs on to another back garden) and antisocial behaviour (from shouting drunk teens on a summer night to activities related to sex and drugs going on the other side of your garden wall).

imiami · 01/02/2023 10:16

😀I just changed my user name, sorry, as many years didn't use this account,

GCAcademic · 01/02/2023 10:17

You realise it's going to be a deer, fox and badger toilet too?

Don't forget the bears. Bears need somewhere to go too.

sure,

GasPanic · 01/02/2023 10:34

I would be wary of buying a place with an entrance to woodland/dog walking area by my house.

i) Because if they put bins up they stink in summer.

ii) Because I walk though woodland on a regular basis. Where I walk the patch where it meets the housing estate always stinks of dog shit. That's because I think the owners drag the dog to the first bit of woodland and when it encounters that they let them crap because it is in the woods and unseen and they won't have to pick it up.

So if the walkway/entraceway is close to your house you may want to consider this.

That's answered the age old question. Thanks!

PuttingDownRoots · 01/02/2023 10:54

We have a woodland nearby, its a lively calm place for a walk. We aren't right next to it though.

garlictwist · 01/02/2023 11:40

My house backs on to woods where there are lots of dog walkers. All my immediate neighbours own dogs and the main issue is they all go mental if there are dogs in the woods behind the houses. I have no idea how they know as we are quite elevated compared to the woods, but they do!

I use the woods for running and while the number of dogs is annoying, most people are pretty good at picking up shit.

Isn't that a contradiction in terms?!
