Cost to remove gas fire and install wood burner

I'm buying a house which used to have a coal fire (it has a chimney). There's currently an ugly gas fire there - I'd love to get rid of it and replace it with a wood burner. Assuming the chimney still works, how much do you think it will cost?

The house is from the 1960s so any suggestions on how to do it sympathetically with the house are also gratefully received!
Thanks

I wasn’t intending to be superior, just concerned about peoples’ health! And many people don’t know about the issues, so I’ll be carrying on pointing them out. If some people feel uncomfortable with that, then too bad. .

Your not concerned about peoples health at all ( random internet people ). Your just the type of person that hates woodburners and likes to use every opportunity to bang on about them . You just use the health issue as a way of justifying your hatred for them.

After all, we’ve all had enough of experts and evidence, right?

Experts haven’t exactly covered themselves in glory during Covid, now have they? And clearly exaggerated figures aren’t going to persuade many.

I happen to agree with you and wouldn’t use a wood burner over gas, but that’s my choice and wouldn’t impose that on another. She’s clearly aware of the risks and still wants one. End of.

So I just had one installed on Friday.
I only had a hole in the wall and a very draughty chimney that needed lined either way.
Multi fuel stove 5Kw British make & liner - £1500
Fitting £400
Incl VAT
Very happy with it.
