Bathroom with black taps/shower - yay or nay?!

Hi

I'm having a new bathroom put in and quite like the attached suite. But it's very different to a 'normal' chrome silver tap bathroom. Im wondering it'd it's a bit too crazy?! But I do like it 😬

I looked at these on Mano Mano. I really like the black aesthetic vibe. It's not quite everyone's taste but if you like it go for it.

We did our bathroom up a few months ago with the black taps, shower etc absolutely no problem with keep them clean in fact better than chrome due to being Matt.

This is one of the bathrooms we’ve just had done …soft water area so no issues with taps being stained (off to name change now!)

I've seen nice taps in a few bathroom showrooms which are chrome and black. I quite liked them, although I'm not sure I liked them enough to warrant the difference in price. I live in London and the water is really hard, and even with a water softener it's hard to keep the taps clean.

It's not too crazy. Black appliances have been very popular for the past 5 years...

Polished brass is very abrasive and doesn't react well to cleaning products. I wouldn't.

I would also say that metro tiles are very dated too

Best don't ask random people about whether they agree with your taste 😀The only thing that matters is whether something makes you happy when you look at it. And objectively, there is really nothing wrong with black taps and white metro tiles. It's a classic combination and will still look nice in 10 years, and whether it's on trend is neither here nor there. Important is whether you love it. As with all bathroom fittings, I would make it a habit to regularly give taps and shower a quick wipe with a microfiber cloth after use to keep it shiny. For the shower screen, a water vac after each use might come in handy to keep it pristine with minimal effort.

Oh wow Andrew. Your shower looks like the one I'm doing with similar colour tiles. Do you mind me asking where you got your tiles from and what colour please? The current tiles I've got cost a fortune sqm,

We have a black tap in our downstairs loo. I really like it, but the finish has scuffed a wee bit round the base.

Looks lovely! I fenced on chrome in the end, mainly because I think it will look better with my tile colours 😊

I used it as an excuse to get a water softener - and now we have black taps and much less eczema! I agree it will probably date, but I liked it more than the up and coming "hexagonal pink/green taps with brushed brass fittings" look and I'm paying!

A cleaner on here the other day said to avoid these at all costs as they mark terribly and are a constant pain in the arse to clean

I wanted this, but our water is so so hard so the bathroom suppliers recommended not to, and to go for brushed brass which actually looks infinitely better. So pleased we did.

I know this was a few months ago and having a search on here as also thinking black. But I saw your black toilet, we are also getting a black toilet!! How has it been water mark wise etc?!
