How can you get a copy of the deeds?

This may be a stupid question but how do you get a copy of the deeds to your home if you have a mortgage?

Are they lodged with the mortgage company?

I don't recall getting a copy when I purchased and now issues have come up related to the estate management company where I need to refer to the deeds and certain clauses that are supposedly on there.

Can clauses legally be added to the deeds without the purchaser (me) being notified in the purchase? I would assume anything being added to the deeds needed my agreement?

You can get a copy of the basic title deeds from the land registry, it costs about £3
You won't get all the documents until your mortgage is paid off.

All the records are in electronic form now, no need for paper deeds anymore. I paid off my mortgage recently and was not given any additional documents. As above, you can get copies of the deeds from the land registry website.

And be sure to use the gov.uk website,
www.gov.uk/government/organisations/land-registry

not any of the crook agencies hoping to profit from the gullible, and paying google to appear at the top of the search results.

Super easy. They send you a link that lasts for a free days, you download to your laptop/whatever before it expires.

Oh, same happened to me as to piglet. How weird. The web address appeared perfectly normal until I pressed submit

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I was wondering if anyone on here had applied for their deeds and can help!

We have paid off our mortgage and paid the £3 to get the title register (and something else-picture of the boundary I think) but want to get the deeds. I am
interested to see if the house had a name when it was built but it doesn’t say anything. I’ve downloaded the deeds request form but on part 7 of OC2, it tells you to write exactly what documents you want and it will be rejected if you write ALL or ANY. I don’t know what to write?? I’ll upload a photo

On your title deeds, it may refer to various documents held by the Land Registry. For example, the title register may refer to a Transfer dated 1.1.1942 (copy filed), or a Conveyance dated 21.5.71 (copy filed). If it says copy filed, then Land Registry have a copy that you can purchase using the OC2 form. If it doesn't say copy filed, then Land Registry don't have it. So, you just have to state exactly how it is described on the title register and that is the documents you'll receive. If you want more than one document, you'll have to purchase each one.

Oh, that’s brilliant-will have a look and see what it says. Thank you so much for replying :)
