Hi all,

Looking for similar areas to:

Herne Hill
Dulwich
Hampstead
Muswell Hill
Stoke Newington
Chelsea
Islington
Clapham

Ideally with good train links (with the odd exception eg. Muswell Hill)

Looking for a lively, village-y, safe, clean atmosphere. Ideally with a naice local market.

For a young single woman moving to London and looking to let a studio.

Ealing has excellent transport links and a community feel.

Those Hampstead flats look nice but it was back in January so prices may have gone up now. Pimlico is very central, something like this

Thank you. Yes the studios available aren't great at the moment - there seemed to be far more over summer. She know she's going to have to offer above the advertised price and put down a deposit the minute a listing goes live on Rightmove - and get friendly with agents to get on their lists!

Queens Park
Chiswick/Acton

Crystal Palace

Barnes. Very villagey. Even has a duck pond. Easy to get to Oxford Circus via the train to Vauxhall and the tube.

GappyValley · 17/09/2022 21:10

The area around Northcote road would be perfect

Tubes and overground, safe, lots of lovely cafes and restaurants

Bouledeneige · 17/09/2022 21:51

Crouch End is Mussy Hill with transport and a younger vibe. But MH is an excellent place to bring up kids - great schools, green spaces, cafes, restaurants, food shops, cinemas etc.

Yes true a lot of the places mentioned are family centric.

Bermondsey or Highbury might be more fun for a single woman.

That's ok she quite likes that!

In response to another poster, her hobby is cooking so speciality shops and a local market (such as Duke of York Square) is important to her - but she can always travel for these.

She's a bit of an old soul and doesn't mind family friendly (she's considered Kingston/Surbiton and Twickenham). As long as the area's lively and friendly!

I think previous posters are on the wind-up re: Burnt Oak. It's a shit hole

Babyenroute · 18/09/2022 04:06

Victoria Park Village or London Fields could be good options

LairyMcClairy · 18/09/2022 04:12

Belsize Park and Putney

LairyMcClairy · 18/09/2022 04:12

Honor oak for a lower cost but still nice area

LairyMcClairy · 18/09/2022 04:13

St Margaret’s too

custardbear · 18/09/2022 09:02

May be a bit far out but I think Kew and Ham are nice areas

chesirecat99 · 18/09/2022 14:21

She might just get a studio in West Hampstead, Maida Vale, Marylebone or Notting Hill, which fit the bill. Somehwere in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham possibly, eg Ravenscourt Park is pretty, by the river, and at the end of King Street (the main street in Hammersmith).

Is there a reason why she wouldn't consider a flat share?

The places being suggested aren't very "young" though. Maybe somewhere like London Fields/Broadway Market might be a bit more happening?

Solasum · 18/09/2022 14:24

Pimlico

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 18/09/2022 14:28

Crouch end. West Hampstead. Highbury

Namechange600 · 18/09/2022 14:35

Hither green

Bigbus · 18/09/2022 14:43

Should try round Wimbledon Village. It’s has a little market at the weekend, close to the common, near Wimbledon for transport. There’s a studio to rent there on the Ridgeway in her budget.

Wowzel · 18/09/2022 14:52

I agree that the suggestion of Burnt Oak is pretty funny - it is not like the other places on this list.

Blackhorse Road (loads of new flats) or Walthamstow near the village might work

AtillatheHun · 18/09/2022 14:53

Maida Vale!!

RustySprings · 18/09/2022 15:05

Some of the nicer bits of the borough of Camden are Primrose Hill (very villagey, with a farmers' market but pricey - nearest tube Chalk Farm), Belsize Park - situated between Primrose Hill and Hampstead so walking distance to both and has its own tube station; slightly cheaper would be West Hampstead - the Fortune Green end is very leafy and a quick walk to the main shops - longer walk to the tube though but there are regular buses up and down; or there's St John's Wood next door to Primrose Hill with a tube, easy walk into the park and a good high street with cafes and shops.
