How long has your house purchase taken [so far]??

I had an offer accepted in mid-June; no chain. I've had my mortgage offer through and the survey done. There is an issue with ownership of an outbuilding so the vendors are sorting that out with the Land Registry. Searches not done yet but unlikely to be anything tricky there.

I'm hoping that I might be in by the end of October but realistically who knows. I've no idea how long the LR are taking to process casework at the moment. Once that's sorted it should all be pretty quick.

Ha ha ha @dubyalass I’ve had the same thought

dubyalass · 21/12/2022 13:35

We can sympathise with each other if it does all go wrong! It won't, we'll both be fine. I hope you have some better news soon. I am going to stop looking at sofas though: every time I do, something goes wrong.

@dubyalass ive stopped looking at sofas, kitchens and other decor ideas!!! Just hoping I get some news before the end of the week at least

Fritilleries · 21/12/2022 19:38

Our solicitors are now shut for Christmas. No exchange but have accepted offer on our property so swings and roundabouts.

RM2013 · 21/12/2022 20:05

@Fritilleries great news on the offer

RM2013 · 21/12/2022 20:06

Finally got a reply from solicitor the form
still hasn’t arrived. They are getting annoyed with me chasing now and said they will let us know when it does arrive. I think basically telling us to eff off and stop chasing them

RM2013 · 21/12/2022 20:05

@Fritilleries great news on the offer

Aye. Just bad timing that the solicitors have shut for Christmas. Maybe I can switch off my phone until the New Year.

dubyalass · 21/12/2022 22:59

Still haven't exchanged. Tomorrow morning apparently. Completion on 5th January as long as my lender doesn't lose that request as well.

@RM2013 I think I'd reply "well if you replied to my emails in a timely manner then I wouldn't have to keep chasing you, would I?"

WAHEYYYYYYYY!!
Bloody well done. That's fantastic news. You must be SO relieved. Is completion still 5h January? Happy, happy Christmas.

Now come on RM2013 it's your turn now.

dubyalass · 22/12/2022 13:42

Thank you! SO relieved. Completion on the 5th. I will be having a glass of wine tonight.

@dubyalass fantastic news - well done and at least you can enjoy Christmas without it hanging over your head.

Still in post-survey quote gathering. So so slow. We've had to pay for a drain survey and a roof survey on top of our survey survey! On the plus side, all the noise about the market and the issues trades are uncovering when doing the surveys are hopefully going to mean the vendors will be willing to a not-insignificant price drop.

RM2013 · 22/12/2022 14:07

@dubyalass 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

bet you can’t believe it. This is amazing news so pleased for you. Large glass later 🍷 🍷

RM2013 · 22/12/2022 14:09

Solicitor is getting annoyed with me I can tell. Last night she emailed to say nothing had been received and this morning that they are trying to get it resolved.

EA rang DH and said they had been in direct contact with the previous owners who said another copy of the transfer form has been completed and is being posted guaranteed next day delivery today

I’m not sure whether it will be guaranteed tomorrow as post strike tomorrow and Christmas Eve 🤷‍♀️

FuzzyPuffling · 22/12/2022 15:42

RM2013. Get your solicitor really annoyed so they will expedite everything just to get you off her back. She's rattled. Keep up the good work.

RM2013 · 22/12/2022 15:45

@FuzzyPuffling she’s rattled and probably can’t wait to be rid of me!! Bet she can’t wait to break up tomorrow 🤣🤣.

FuzzyPuffling · 22/12/2022 15:47

You're paying her (handsomely, no doubt) She needs to WORK for you, not sit back and hope for the best. RRRAAAAAAARGH !(Warrior mode engaged)

bloody brilliant news xx

SuperlativeOxymoron · 22/12/2022 19:57

Just dropping in to check updates, so pleased you've finally exchanged @dubyalass

Hopefully the rest of you come out, we finally moved in this past weekend so we were able to take our time moving frim the storgae container and unpacking and also because the house was so cold, literally even the carpets were that cold it took 4 days of the heating being on at 30° nonstop to get the house even warm enough to not see your breathe. I'm dreading our gas bill in January 🤦‍♀️

FuzzyPuffling · 22/12/2022 21:28

Our new house had been closed up for several weeks and smelled really musty in places. We had to air it thoroughly ( and still open windows and doors daily- and the cat is using the loo window as a cat flap!) and it's improving. But man... it's cold. Can't wait until the chimney sweep comes next month and I can light a fire.

dubyalass · 22/12/2022 21:52

Thanks all! This house has been closed up for a while but they have had the heating on intermittently so I'm hoping it won't be too awful. It took my last place a few days to warm up as that had been empty for at least six months before I moved in.
