I can't justify the cost of Quooker taps , do they really worth it ? i was also looking at Fohen too . Please help me decide

We had one in the office. I think they are dangerous.

You get complacent with them, it is actually very easy to turn on boiling water instead of normal water by accident.

saw a colleague with an awful scold from it. I would never have one

With a quooker one?

Ive had mine for years and I still have to take a second before I use it to remember how it works. I can’t see anyone doing it by accident?

and the Zip taps which most offices have a two-stage or two hand process to operate them

csam · 16/07/2022 07:31

Love our quooker tap. I've
Never had an accidental turn on... it's quite a knack to turn on with the double pull down and many adults we have I've struggle to work it.
Not sure on other brands but we've had ours for 2 years and I wouldn't be without!
Worth the cost imho

SW1amp · 16/07/2022 07:34

I’ve got a quooker and wouldn’t be without it. We got the Cube bit to make fizzy water and it’s been amazing and worth the money

Previously had an Insinkerator tap which was fine but needed more regular maintenance and I don’t think it was proper 100 degree boiling. Which wasn’t an issue for me, but die hard tea drinkers might moan

Eddielizzard · 16/07/2022 07:39

My quooker is 14 years old now and still going strong. A couple of times over the years a seal has gone and they've come out and fixed it and gotten rid of the limescale. Absolutely love it and when it finally dies I'll get another. I'd love to know how much electricity we've saved over the years as it's very efficient.

Eddielizzard · 16/07/2022 07:40

No one has every turned the quooker on by mistake. It's pretty hard to do that, but ours is separate to the normal water tap.

Luckingfovely · 16/07/2022 07:56

I've had one for six years and have never had an accident with it, not have the kids or anyone else. They are not dangerous with even a modicum of common sense; and save hugs amounts of time. Love it!

cathol · 16/07/2022 07:58

We've had an Insinkerator at our old house and current one. Wouldn't be without one. Have never accidentally friend it on.

Mitchthekitch · 16/07/2022 08:11

We had a Quooker in our new kitchen a few weeks back and it's brilliant. DH who had zero expectations from it raves about it all the time.
We got a separate one to the main tap but I can't see how anyone could accidentally turn it on anyway.

It's proper 100 degree water (many are not) and never having to boil a kettle is - IMO - life changing. We make a lot of tea and coffee in this house so the energy savings are real, and time savings are even better.

ODFOx · 16/07/2022 08:20

We're having a new kitchen and I've chosen a Qettle one. The reviews look positive but I don't know anyone who has one so I'm watching your thread with interest!

Mydogneedsabath · 16/07/2022 08:33

We have a Qettle and previously an Insinkerator. It’s slightly more splashy but our water pressure isn’t the best which may have something to do with it.
very very happy with it, and prefer the larger tap on the Qettle.
after our Insinkerator broke we used a kettle but only managed a few months before ordering another hot water tap.

iluvsummer · 17/07/2022 00:19

We have a schon one and I love it! Best thing in my kitchen!

Tap

freesoul12 · 17/07/2022 16:27

so how many accessories are needed for quooker taps ? when i looked at there is literally so many extras each worth approx £200 .

I have looked at Qettle that looks good but it does not tell anywhere aboutbits guarantee

I love our quooker. Had the insinkerstor hot tap before but that was never hot enough for tea. Went with a new Quooker in our new kitchen and the water is much hotter and great for making tea. We don’t have any accessories or the fuzzy water (as we don’t like fizzy water!)

did you buy scale remover stuff and drinking water filter as well please?

Crazymadchickenlady · 17/07/2022 17:04

@freesoul12 no we didn’t but don’t have a problem with limescale here

Loopy246 · 25/07/2022 23:32

We got ours from the bath shack. Cost us around £400 so a huge cost difference to the leading brands.

GoingBacktoSchool123 · 25/07/2022 23:47

Love my Quooker. I have one that does boiling, cold filtered and fizzy.

Two years in I still need to engage my brain to remember how to turn the boiling water on and there is no way to inadvertently turn it on.

Love the fizzy water. Drink gallons of the stuff and wouldn't be without it.

Sister has a cheap hot tap which is worse than useless.

Sanch1 · 26/07/2022 19:38

We have a quettle 4 in 1. With the chiller and boiler it was £1200. It's great!

TotallyDisco · 26/07/2022 19:50

Our budget couldn’t stretch to Insinkerator or Quooker. We went for the ETAL £300 one from ScrewFix (www.screwfix.com/p/etal-3-in-1-instant-hot-water-kitchen-tap-polished-chrome/107RG?).

4 months on and we’re happy with it so far particularly given the price.

It only goes to 98° rather than 100°. It has a smallish tank but I was ok with that for home use. Also means it doesn’t take up too much cupboard space.

I also had worried about accidental scalding but it’s quite a deliberate mechanism to use boiling water so hasn’t been an issue.

we’ve enjoyed the benefit of having this tap (first for us) and glad we didn’t allow our budget to constrain us to sticking to kettles.

LondonNQT · 27/07/2022 09:41

Our Fohen was a reluctant last minute addition to our new kitchen but I wouldn’t be without it now! You’d be trying hard to scald yourself with it.

Super handy if you cook a fair bit. Really noticed how much I use it for boiling spuds/soaking the roasting dish/cooking pasta etc after we got back from a weeks self catering holiday where we just had a kettle.

ILoveCreamCrackersMe · 27/07/2022 09:53

They're definitely more convenient, but don't kid yourself they're more efficient cost wise.

The upfront cost and constant heating (even if that is 3p per day) still takes around a lifetime to even out. You gain worktop space but lose a cupboard.

They're pretty safe and easy to use (been using various ones for years), the only downside is the ones I use at work are forever being serviced and it of use.

For me, they're not worth the price just yet, good luck with whatever you do.

GlamGiraffe · 27/07/2022 10:07

Had my quooker for 14 years. I love it. No one has ever accidentally turned it on (and i have lots of people coming through the house). Ive had the cartridge changed once in that time (london hard water) and its been brillianh. It gets so much use i cannot imagine not having one. Definitelty worth the investment.

BarrelOfOtters2 · 27/07/2022 10:14

We've got a Qooker - bog standard one. We could live without it - and you have to boil a lot of water and get through a lot of kettles to make up for the price. But it's useful, makes great tea and I like it. I'd get one again if I ever got a new kitchen and would probably get one with a chiller too.

We have this. I wasn’t sure how we would take to it so didn’t want to invest several thousand in a quooker.

it is without doubt one of the best things I’ve ever bought. It’s also in my view much safer than a kettle - you only ever lift the amount of water you need. Abd there’s a separate tap on it to the normal one which has a safety catch so you cannot accidentally turn it on.
