Just that really! Nice community, decent schools, as pretty as it can be for the price!

I love Fulham and Putney but they are very expensive.

If you're happy to commute a little then look at Chislehurst!

Wanstead?

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 07/06/2022 06:12

Crystal Palace/Upper Norwood

My friends bought a place in Streatham common and are happy there.
Another set have just bought in Stepney. They love being around Victoria park - not overlooking, that's big big money, but they're close.

TizerorFizz · 07/06/2022 07:26

Streatham definitely. Balham and Tooting. Greenwich (just about) and Camberwell. Harrow and Southgate are worth considering. Which area of London do you need/prefer?

This is in Highams Park. I don’t live there, but close ish and it’s very nice.

Echobelly · 07/06/2022 08:07

Barnet? Boring, but quite green, good schools. Won't buy you much in East Finchley, but can get good 4-bed houses for that in rest of borough

chipsarnie · 07/06/2022 08:38

With a bit of luck you'd get a four-bed in lovely Bushwood, Leytonstone for that budget, and a 3-bed for considerably less in South Leytonstone in the streets off Cann Hall rd. Both have a community spirit with a lot of young (and not so young families) and good local schools and loads of new bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants. (full disclosure, I live here).

Highams Park definitely - meets all the requirements in your OP.

Some good suggestions on here! Crystal Palace is really lovely but the transport connections are terrible. Also worth looking at Beckenham.

SD25 · 07/06/2022 22:26

Terrible is a bit strong. Arguably as good as Beckenham!

Think it’d depend on what you want in the property and what area you want around you.

For me I like Acton, because it’s got a lot of green, got good train connections into central, easy to get out of London, are surrounded by a lot of good parks, schools, etc. Houses prices are reasonable compared to some other areas of London.

Blackheath

Blackheath

Might be a stretch for 950k. You might have better luck a bit further around Manor House Gardens in Hither green

Crikeyalmighty · 09/06/2022 20:33

@bravotango that's a lovely house-- my son lived in Tooting for a while, I really liked it- a good mix of some posh stuff and practical stuff and a nice vibe -well connected too

Crikeyalmighty · 09/06/2022 20:37

Bushey is lovely and in budget. Bit further out but still TFL. And great schools.
