Just that really! Nice community, decent schools, as pretty as it can be for the price!

Nunhead? (Small house)
telegraph hill? (Small house or large flat conversion for that price)

@CrikeyAlmighty yes I'm a big fan of tooting! Furzedown is a nice option to be slightly further from the high street (quieter) and some of the properties have fantastic gardens.

Caneparrot · 09/06/2022 20:49

Had this exact criteria and wasn’t bothered about north/south/east/west. Have ended up in Tooting and very happy here. Wanstead was our other favourite (very far apart!).

Crikeyalmighty · 09/06/2022 20:51

@bravotango - yes my son lived in a shared house in Furzedown! Doesn't Sadiq khan live there if I remember correctly? ! I always find it suprising that Tooting gets rarely mentioned on here - it's way nicer than some areas that do get mentioned a lot and is handy for both Wimbledon and Clapham too and has lots of green space as well.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 09/06/2022 20:51

Tooting/Balham area
Streatham

bravotango · 09/06/2022 21:22

@CrikeyAlmighty! Yes! He was the local MP pre mayor I think. It's a great spot Grin

Chiselhurst
Blackheath
Hilly Fields (Between Ladywell and Brockley)
West Greenwich
East Dulwich

These are all areas in my part of London that seem pretty nice .

South Wimbledon or New Malden. V quick to Waterloo. Teddington too but it’s longer on the train.

That’s a great buy, the views over that golf course are gorgeous and it’s just round the corner from Norbiton station (and Kingston hospital). Also about 10 mins walk from Richmond Park.

Crikeyalmighty · 09/06/2022 22:07

@IrisVersicolor I thought it was a good buy too, as I've lived in that neck of the woods and it's a convenient area that tends to consistently hold it's money, it's very nice inside too. (In my opinion of course) - lots of green very close by with Richmond park, not overlooked and decent space. Hmmmm reckon I should set up a paid sideline in relocation for folks that can't be arsed /fed up of trawling Rightmove, having done 21 moves ourself !! And unlike Kirsty Allsopp I'm down to earth!!

You can get a decent house for that is some of the less extortionate areas of Wimbledon.

Just had a look and this is what I'd get with 950 www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/85574169#/?channel=RES_BUY

Crikeyalmighty · 10/06/2022 14:58

@Beviolinar that's a nice ish bit of Wimbledon too- I think along with the kingston one I put up they are the best options I've seen

HerculesMulligan · 10/06/2022 15:03

You can get a 3 bed period terrace for that in parts of Teddington. Depends on where you're working - the train into Waterloo isn't particularly fast but it's ok a couple of times a week.

Crikeyalmighty · 10/06/2022 15:10

@HerculesMulligan Love Teddington- always a great choice in my opinion

I agree with this. You could also look at Southfields and Wimbledon Park, which are nice areas, but Wimbledon has better transport links (train to Waterloo and district line from Wimbledon/ Northern line from South Wimbledon). With your budget, you could get a nice 3/4 bed terrace with decent-sized back garden.

SafelySoftly · 10/06/2022 15:42

@Crikeyalmighty it’s in a black hole for secondary schools though if you have a boy, so not that great a choice…

gillyff · 10/06/2022 16:05

Wimbledon but check secondary schools
Sutton lots of options primary & secondary
Kingston
Bromley

gillyff · 10/06/2022 16:07

I know Rutlish is good but the house linked in Wimbledon may be to far away, Wimbledon Chase would be better.

gillyff · 10/06/2022 16:10

But nearer the town in nicer, although what will happen to the shopping court is not 100% decided.
