Induction hob, what brand?

Just that really! We’re redoing the kitchen and moving from gas to induction for energy reasons. I’m a bit reluctant as I’m a keen cook, but I know it’s the right thing for the planet.

I’m looking for a hob that’s easy to use, has zones that can be merged, and won’t beep at me all the time.

TIA x

Most AEG ones link to the hood but I don’t think the one I’ve ordered does. It gets amazing reviews and boils water in 90 seconds or less with power boost. I’ve concluded I’m happy to control the extractor fan.

We have a neff induction. We are currently remodelling our kitchen and I'm going back to gas.

Induction is great for heating stuff up, cooking pasta that sort of thing but gas is better for stir fry's, paella etc.

Induction much easier to keep clean though.

Mine is a Hisense one - it had the most features

It has a timer, you can pause cooking, boost, child lock

Im happy with it

We are about to get this Neff 5 ring induction hob - T48FD23X2 www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/t48fd23x2/neff-t48fd23x2-4-induction-hob-hob. But I am worried it won't be as good as my Hotpoint one... On my 4 ring Hotpoint induction hob, the buttons are quick to respond. You can hold your finger on the button and the numbers go up or down quite quickly. And when you have all 4 rings on high power mode, it does the job with no noise or fuss. But when I had a go on my friend's Neff induction hob (admittedly a 4 ring not the same model as the one we have on order) the buttons seemed very slow to respond - cycles through the numbers slowly, and when more than 2 rings are on, it makes a loud clicking on and off noise, and loud humming. Is this normal Neff induction stuff? should I be worried? any help welcome, thanks so much.

I’m on my 2nd induction hob in 6 years. The first one cracked 6 weeks in and had to be replaced. The current one, half the elements have packed up in the last year so seriously unimpressed.

My friends £2000 5 year old Miele just broke (elements keep turning off by themselves) - she’s been quoted £800 to fix it and there’s no guarantee the fix will work so she may have to replace the whole thing. When Miele appliances break they really break.

I've got that exact one. I've had it 6 months, I've never had induction before but I love it. The numbers aren't slow at reacting but they go in halves and the have doesn't show on the display. For example, if it's on 8 and you press "-", for it to get to 7 you press it twice. Pressing it once does lower the temperature but it would be on 7.5. I've discovered this when my pasta boils over! 😆

Your friend is right about the noises, It does make weird noises when more than 2 rings are on.

Thanks for replying, that’s helpful info about the half settings. Still a bit worried about it being noisy when more than two rings are on… does it do lots of clicks and buzzing? Or am I worrying about nothing and they’re noises you wouldn’t really notice… ?

I have a Neff induction, very similar to the one pictured but with the wheel selector thing. It does sometimes make a buzzing noise but that’s mostly to do with pan size/quality - if the pan is not well matched to the ring in use you will hear it, especially if there is a flex zone. I think the clicking is to do with diverting power between rings and if I remember correctly it’s better for the hob to load it evenly (so not everything on one side all the time but you would need to check). Even though it does make some faint noises these are not particularly noticeable.

I’m finding the following, mostly from Pet’s Corner, very good for a chewer…

Bulls pizzle
Dried ostrich stomach lining
Rabbit ears (with hair)
Goats willies (sorry!)
Braided buffalo chews

Obviously with supervision and only when on a chewing frenzy…!
