Can you sell house

If the neighbours are harassing you. Yes it's logged.
Can I sell the house? Will it sell? Do you have to declare this?

You have to declare a dispute with neighbours on the Law Society forms. Ask your solicitor for advice on how to respond in your specific circumstances, it's what you pay them for.

purpleme12 · 26/04/2022 22:26

It's all theory at the minute I'm just thinking about it it would be worth even thinking about it or if it's a no go cos of what's happening

ChessieFL · 27/04/2022 06:42

I think it’s impossible to say whether the house would sell. It really depends what the dispute is about. If it’s something specific to you or your family then buyers may overlook it. But if you have the kind of neighbours who complain about everything and are therefore likely to harass whoever buys your house, then that’s likely to put buyers off.

purpleme12 · 27/04/2022 20:43

They hate children (while pretending to like them)
And I guess you might have a chance with them if all your outside area is 100 per cent perfect (and I mean 100 per cent perfect, not a jot out of place) and they want no noise at all ie they want it to be as if it's a detached house. Oh and also you'd have to never take action on them ie even if they do something wrong or you feel threatened don't report them
However people know them in the street as problematic (this is putting it mildly) someone told me they'd been bullying children for years. But as long as people themselves aren't being targeted they're not bothered enough to stop hanging out with them, getting lifts with them etc etc.
Really opened my eyes up to how disgusting people can be. Obviously these people. But it's really opened my eyes up to how as long as a person isn't targeted themselves even though they know what kind of people they are, they will not be bothered enough to stop hanging out with them etc because 'hey it's not me they're doing this to'. Really opened my eyes

Yes you need to tell the buyers so they are aware of what they might be moving to. It is the right thing to do morally.

This kind of behaviour has always bothered me. I can't respect people who turn a blind eye to how others are treated.

purpleme12 · 27/04/2022 21:09

@Headabovetheparakeet it's really made me rethink. Rethink these people. Rethink if a lot of people would be like this...!
Sometimes I wonder if these people might be a little ashamed of themselves cos I know they know what they're like. They know what they do to us and one person came to check we were ok once then after that hasn't talked to me a lot. They accept lifts with them. Sometimes I wonder if they feel a bit ashamed and that's why they're not talking much to us. And maybe that's why someone else didn't look at me when they were sitting with them - because normally if someone you know passes you look at them and say hi. Because she knew she was hanging out with the people who are being so awful to us. Anyway it seems to be where we are!

I don't want to waste money trying to sell if it's impossible to sell

They are now filming my child every time they can see her. This is apparently allowed by the law as even the garden is classed as a public place there is apparently no law against this.
Would this property sell to anyone???

AnotherDelphinium · 28/04/2022 17:50

It doesn’t cost you anything to put your home on the market, estate agents aren’t paid until it’s sold.

Who has told you it’s fine for them to film your daughter? How are they filming? Front or back garden, and I’m assuming it’s private?

user1471538283 · 28/04/2022 17:52

You would have to declare anything official.

But it sounds like you need to sell.

I know what you mean about others being ok because it isnt happening to them. I was let down by friends when I had nightmare neighbors. Off they went with relief whilst I cried. It hardens your heart a little.

Sell and find somewhere nicer.

The police! They film from everywhere. Their window. When they're in their garden

GeidiPrimes · 28/04/2022 17:54

Isn't it against the law to film somebody on their private property? I had a neighbour doing similar, and the police paid him a visit and told him to stop. Not sure of the law now though, a lot's changed in the last couple of years.

purpleme12 · 28/04/2022 17:55

I don't know about the past but apparently there is no law to stop this!!!!

What costs would I have to think about to move?
I don't think I can afford it.
What costs need thinking about?

OP posts:
TwoBlueFish · 28/04/2022 18:07

According to this website it’s illegal for your neighbour to film you. Could you try citizen advice, solicitor or police for advice.

Solicitor webpage

As you have to declare disputes with neighbours you may find it hard to sell. Part exchange for a new build or selling to one of those firms that buys homes for cash might be possible but won’t get you the best price.

Can you sell house
Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 28/04/2022 18:08

Anything will sell at the right price.

purpleme12 · 28/04/2022 18:10

I can't read that but every police officer I've spoken to tells me it's not against the law.

I didn't think about those companies who buy for any price

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 28/04/2022 18:13

I don't know how I'd afford to move really

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 28/04/2022 18:16

I guess if I stopped paying the mortgage we'd have to move

OP posts:
JazzApple · 28/04/2022 18:17

I bought a new build where the builder part exchanged when I was in a similar situation.

purpleme12 · 28/04/2022 18:18

Forgive my stupidness but what does this mean?

OP posts:
JazzApple · 28/04/2022 21:52

It means you buy a new build house and as a part of the deal the building company buys your house as a part payment. Like if you were buying a car.

JazzApple · 28/04/2022 21:53

www.dwh.co.uk/offers/part-exchange/

purpleme12 · 28/04/2022 21:57

And would they buy it knowing about the neighbours still?

OP posts:
statetrooperstacey · 28/04/2022 22:25

Can you not just embrace it so to speak and out arsehole them?! I mean it’s turned to shit already . I would be tempted to take up a prolific weed habit, throw cat/!dog shit over the fence, leave an old sofa on the front lawn, never do any gardening , let the dandilions turn to seed, put a knackered old trampoline somewhere very visible , obtain an old shagged car and leave it on the drive/ parked on the road , hang your washing out the front, for days and days and days……. At least then any prospective buyers will think you’re part of the problem and your neighbours are decent types who are just protesting at your behaviour. You might ( definitely will) enjoy it😁 celine Dion always seems to feature in neighbour disputes, play some of that!!
