I wntd to ask about building plans but not through the solicitor because that costs money.

I dno if I did the right thing?

I knew they didn’t have them because the solicitor said so but I asked anyway. They said the works were done in the 70s so no plans available.

And I agree with others that your conveyance charges seem very OTT. You might want to take another look at this.

And it's beyond weird and inappropriate to try to conduct an incredibly important and expensive purchase via social media.

Find a fixed price conveyancer (your pay per query set up sounds bizarre) and channel everything through the professionals.
