Does anyone else check rightmove about 20 times a day!? First time buyers. Our offer was accepted on a house in Jan only for the sellers to change their mind and stay put! House prices still going up!! Arghhhhh

I'm probably more like 20 times an hour. It's taken over my life.

You need to talk to the agents and tell them you are keen to buy, proceedable (assuming the mortgage will be easy) etc so they tell you about properties before they go on rightmove.

EekThreek · 07/04/2022 17:40

Yes, but we've finally had an offer accepted today 🥳

Been looking since January, but properly since February after getting our mortgage agreed in principle etc. Registered with agents and everything.

We've had 5 offers not work out. This was our last chance before we have to look at renting again and it's finally looking hopeful! I could weep!

Roselilly36 · 07/04/2022 18:11

Another RM addict here, I just love it!

Geranium1984 · 07/04/2022 18:26

There's another one called on the market that estate agents like to use. Apparently they don't charge the fees that rightmove do so we have found some places we didn't know about on there x

FleeceNavidadfromtheSheep · 07/04/2022 18:38

We moved last year, and I was on the websites every chance I got.
Selling agents only contacted me when they had dross to shift, despite us being at the top of a proceed-able chain.

It paid off though, as our now house popped up just after 9am on a Monday morning. I called immediately and made an appointment for 2pm. We were first to view, offered straightaway, and fortunately the vendors accepted and withdraw it from the market.

Best of luck!

Yes, but I don’t know why because I’ve got so many alerts set up through Rightmove, Zoopla and OntheMarket I literally see each new house about 8 times flashing up on email… which inspires me to check Rightmove again, FFS.

You need to target Estate agents in the area you want to buy, who sell the type of property you can afford; Approach them , provide your contact details and requirements and ask them to keep you informed of properties they are selling.

LittleBearPad · 07/04/2022 19:21

On the Market only shows certain properties as it’s owned by a group of estate agents.

You need to speak to estate agents not wait for website if you’re serious.

TheNoonBell · 08/04/2022 06:46

I check it every hour or so and I am not even trying to buy a house! Got into the habit last year when buying and now cannot stop.

I suppose it means I now have a 'hobby'.

Lampzade · 08/04/2022 07:00

We bought a house last year. I was on Rightmove all the time. I knew all the details about the houses being sold in my desired area , I knew when the houses came on the market and their price
I knew all the houses that hadn’t sold and were
removed from rightmove only to be reposted at a later date. I was obsessed
I still go on rightmove every other day.

Beachbabe1 · 08/04/2022 07:32

Yep registered with all agents!

I brought my house in 2004 and have no plans to move. I check Right Move all the time (especially if someone in my street is selling Grin)

Starseeking · 08/04/2022 08:12

@Guttedbuyer

I'm probably more like 20 times an hour. It's taken over my life.

After having my first attempted purchase fall through after 7 months due to the vendor changing their mind, this is me.

I'm currently purchasing through a private sale, but very mindful that they could change their minds at any given moment, so keeping an eye out.

SwayingInTime · 08/04/2022 08:29

I did but it worked! Not so much the checking but responding immediately to real time alerts. I was able to get an early viewing and then make an offer that they cancelled the weekend open day for. And being able to make a decision quickly was based on the months of obsessive checking.

mindutopia · 08/04/2022 11:23

We did for about 2 years. We finally completed on our house in February after all this time, but I still check Rightmove at least a couple times a day! I can't not do it now.

eerk · 08/04/2022 11:43

Has anyone found they call for a viewing and they say it's sold but it doesn't show as sold STC on Rightmove so still looks like it's available.

Guttedbuyer · 08/04/2022 11:47

Granted it could be different where I am but here there's no use hounding estate agents to hear about properties before they go on the market because everyone wants to squeeze every last drop of blood out of their property and you can't do that without going on the open market and going to nest and final.

You could maybe strike lucky with a private sale with someone who doesn't want or need the hassle but if a property is already at estate agent stage here you've no chance.

Yes exactly, ive had no progressive luck by registering with all agents.
