Does anyone else check rightmove about 20 times a day!? First time buyers. Our offer was accepted on a house in Jan only for the sellers to change their mind and stay put! House prices still going up!! Arghhhhh

What worked for our buyer was that they had missed out on our neighbour's property. We went with the same agent. He lined them up to view, they offered asking price and we accepted. The house only showed up Rightmove afterwards, as SSTC.

@FleeceNavidadfromtheSheep they were very lucky with you. No one here is taking the chance of missing out on a few extra thousand. It's beyond a joke now!

I must check Rightmove five times a day. It’s a habit! We’re not actively looking at the moment, but will be in the future and it’s interesting to see what our budget will get us.

I save houses that might suit our needs to see how quickly it sells, or if I think it’s overpriced I keep an eye out for reductions. Then when it sells, what it goes for.

There’s not much comes on of interest though- I maybe save one or two listings a month?

My DH has said I’m becoming obsessed with it. He checks once a day I’m checking around every hour. Sold in mid feb and haven’t found anything to buy yet, as the market here has ground to a halt all the rentals say no pets (we have 2 cats).

I’m getting major anxiety from it all, we might have to live in our caravan at this rate!

I do , just come off there now actually ! We offered on dream home in December but vendors having problem with onward chain messing them around and we don't want to lose our buyers , I've been doing a a lot of window shopping in case I can find another dream home with no chain

Mosaic123 · 08/04/2022 16:03

It's definitely addictive. After you have bought you check in case a similar property comes up for more than you paid.

Always a reason to check Rightmove.

I had tons of alerts but didn't trust them so checked anyway!

At least 20 times a day. I'm constantly on there. I sold mine on Monday, but I've been actively searching since Jan when I made the decision to spruce mine up for sale. Went on the market the week before and sold straight away. Before Jan I was definitely looking multiple times a week "just in case" and also to keep abreast of local prices as I had been in neg equity until at least 2017/18.

Guttedbuyer · 08/04/2022 17:46

@cutebutscary same situation as us!

cutebutscary · 08/04/2022 17:52

@Guttedbuyer it's so stressful isn't it ? I will never move again . I'm living on my nerves the whole time . Hope your purchase goes through ok x

@eerk

Has anyone found they call for a viewing and they say it's sold but it doesn't show as sold STC on Rightmove so still looks like it's available.
Yes, repeatedly! Two local agents are really bad for this, and I don't think it does them any favours because it looks like all their properties haven't sold!

I use the app, which doesn't show the description on the list of properties, but when you click through to the listing, the description will say "SSTC..." - why not mark it as sold then??

It is doing little for my already rather low opinion of estate agents.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 08/04/2022 18:59

I asked my agents this afternoon why my house is still showing as for sale (as I'm getting repeated requests through the app for viewings) when it sold on Monday. They said they don't list it as sold until the buyer sends proof of funds/mortgage so they know the sale is proceedable.
My buyer is messaging over whether my hob is induction or not so they can buy pans, so I'm pretty certain they are sorting it all out. I just want to stop the bloody app pinging!

EekThreek · 08/04/2022 20:46

We registered with agents, but two of them said that properties are moving that quickly that they don't have time to ring people about one that's about to be listed.

One agent did call us as soon as the particulars were signed off, but it was on RM with an hour of that call so didn't exactly give us an advantage. EAs really don't have to work that hard to get a sale at the moment. There are a few houses here that have been on the market for more than a couple of weeks, but most of them are selling within 3-4 days. It's making the whole thing even more stressful before we even get started, and I'm a FTB and have nothing to compare it to!

WellNotReally · 08/04/2022 20:52

@2bazookas

You need to target Estate agents in the area you want to buy, who sell the type of property you can afford; Approach them , provide your contact details and requirements and ask them to keep you informed of properties they are selling.
Sadly with the market so buoyant, many agents don't bother to keep buyers informed any more. They have more to gain by lots of people viewing and a potential bidding war. We've moved now, but last year, despite being cash buyers, many agents told us just to keep looking at the websites. There were probably only two who did actually send us details of houses.

It sends texts. No option to other than deleting app, which I don't want to do as it is so handy to communicate with both the agents and the buyer.
Just mark it sold would be the best solution Grin
