“Lively” decor (a Rightmove one)

I think the word is unique…! If the colours weren’t enough to give you a headache, trying to work out what all the pictures are will.

I think Princess Di in photo 9 is my favourite.

Looks like a serial killers house

@ICouldHaveCheckedFirst

I think it's been an elderly person's home - look at the grab handles in the bathroom, and the swirly carpet. What happened next is anybody's guess, but yes, possibly a squat as has been suggested.

A steal for somebody happy to do a bit of work though, it would be easy to add quite a bit of value and move on in a year.

I’d be interested to see what the downstairs neighbours had to say!

Also - squatting isn't really a thing in Scotland. It's a criminal matter not a civil one. Landlords can evict squatters in Scotland without notice or an eviction order.

Holy shit the decor is hideous but the size is fantastic for the price!

dramaqueen80 · 11/03/2022 18:30

Looks like someone's been 'inspired' by Aboriginal art.

User478 · 11/03/2022 18:50

I think the blank wall had a big sarong or something pinned up on it.

Those cottage flats are usually very well built, with gardens, and very spacious. One of Glasgow's great features in fact. They were built in their thousands mostly in the 1930s,40s,50s to house families moved from inner city rundown areas, and still make great family/starter homes. Big windows, wooden floors and doors etc. High ceilings. Solid. And very, very cheap.

Glasgow is built around a river. On the northern bank, in particular, the land slopes up quite steeply in places. Hence the steps.

Duchessfloofy · 11/03/2022 19:43

I'd have that house in a heartbeat. I like that area ,it's alright. Wish I had the cash. It could be made lovely . Would love to move back .😭

This one is very much south. The land slopes up a lot there too. Our garden has a deck built out over a very steep drop to the south. But yes, these houses/flats are everywhere and they're a great deal if you can get one. The big gardens are great, there'd be 3 houses on that plot these days. I know a few more established homeowners who've managed to buy both parts of the house and they're amazing family homes. Much more expensive, though!!

@Changeychangey

It's LITERALLY around the corner from me! It's a steal at the price if you're happy to live in Kings Park/Castlemilk. My 4 bed detached cost £167k 10 years ago. It's the postcode that's keeping the price low!!
But the asking price is less than it sold for 15 years ago. It can’t just be the postcode unless it’s gone down dramatically since 2007.
Seeingadistance · 11/03/2022 21:02

2007 was when the market was at its height before it crashed. In some areas of Scotland, prices still haven’t got back to 2007 levels.

Itawapuddytat · 11/03/2022 21:41

We used to own a cottage flat in the nearby area until a few years ago. Good affordable wee places (although the kitchens are very small), the gardens are of a good size and the King's Park area is alright and quite close to the centre.

Lysianthus · 12/03/2022 01:07

"We are delighted..."

No you weren't. Confused

user1487194234 · 12/03/2022 05:41

It will go for over100 k

ChocolateDigestivesMmmm · 12/03/2022 09:41

The price doesn't shock me, in my city you can get flats for £40k. Not in the nicest areas and only 1 bed, but they're there.
This "decor" is truly hideous though. The colour combos give me a headache.

apocketfullofposies · 12/03/2022 14:07

It's nearish me. It was posted on a local Facebook group and someone commented saying the guy who lived there had learning difficulties and had carers going in and was a lovely guy. Not clear if he has died or not.
