Cost of fitting a new bathroom.

DillonPanthersTexas · 02/03/2022 16:06

Currently gathering quotes for the complete strip out and installation of a new three piece bathroom and to be honest I have no idea what the going rate is.

Can anyone advise what they paid (minus the cost of the new suite/tiles/materials etc)

What makes a big difference is if you are moving the suite around, especially the toilet waste.

In my case, bearing in mind I moved everything around, I paid £3800 for installation only. But I think that was cheap and it was in 2018.

MayBeeMee · 02/03/2022 16:09

We paid 8k, including a large area of metro tiles and underfloor heating/floor tiling. We could have done it cheaper but the fitter came with 5* recommendations from friends.

TheNoonBell · 02/03/2022 16:31

Our makeover was 4.5k for the work. 11k total with all the parts with lots of tiling, walk in shower with custom glass and a new hot water tank/unvented system.

Feels like being in a posh hotel, I'm too afraid to use it and it was finished 4 months ago! Still using the old en-suite instead lol.

DialsMavis · 02/03/2022 16:38

£4k for the work, replacing whole bathroom but wc etc in same place. That included having a wall knocked through, and was the cheapest quote by miles (friend of a friend) . Finished last week and very happy with it Smile

Flexitarian · 02/03/2022 16:42

I’ve just paid £7k all in for new suite (freestanding bath, walk in shower, loo and basin, half wood panelling, tiled floor and shower area and decorating - that’s including fitting and bits like heated towel rail, fancy mirror with lights etc

dontblamemee · 02/03/2022 19:39

I was quoted £4K to fit mine. Then he billed £8.5k
I had to sell my car to pay him.

Annabelle69 · 02/03/2022 22:37

Just been done by a friend of a friend, experienced bathroom fitter. South East. Floor tiles and wall (lots of metro) tiles £500. Toilet & Sink £300. New column radiator £200. Taps and other sundries £400. Kept the old bath, didn't have shower fitted = £1,300 on items. Labour was £4,300 which included stripping out the room completely, replacing all old pipework, floor and wall tiling, fitting everything, installing spotlights. Bathroom approx 8 x 7ft.

Intothevoid3 · 02/03/2022 22:44

Currently being done. Just over 7k. Bath, separate shower, toilet, radiator and double sink vanity. Floor to ceiling tiles. Every thing in approximately the same place so not extensive plumbing.
South East England.

AwkwardPaws27 · 02/03/2022 23:14

Quoted £5k labour, small 8ft x 4.5ft bathroom, as part of a bigger project starting in April. London/Essex border.

SadLittleLife · 02/03/2022 23:19

Small ensuite being fitted now. Don't know labour only cost as, after being unhappy with getting plumber, tiler etc separately to do main bathroom, we wanted company to do everything. They designed, supplied and installing for £8000 - shower, toilet and sink unit.
Have been very efficient and it's looking good Smile

Littlecaf · 03/03/2022 07:18

£3.5k for labour for downstairs loo and family bathroom - we have a budget of a further £4k for suite, plastering, tiles, radiator etc. I thought £3.5k was really reasonable! SE

Ruralbliss · 03/03/2022 08:56

I've had three done in the past couple of years and each came in around £7k all in with works, fittings, tiling, flooring etc.

Alexalee · 03/03/2022 10:02

Probably around 4-5k if fully tiled, not including any electrics or plastering

JustJam4Tea · 03/03/2022 10:07

Ours was about 9K including suite. But it was a complete strip out, old lath and plaster walls, all insulated and boarded out, 3/4 tiles, tiled floor, shower over bath...new velux. It's lovely now.

MojoJojo71 · 03/03/2022 10:18

I paid about £3k for fitting which included L shaped bath with shower over, sink and toilet built into cabinets, fully tiled walls, tiled floor, new spotlights, cladding to ceiling and new extractor fan. I’m in the north east.

DillonPanthersTexas · 03/03/2022 13:42

Cheers for the feedback everyone, some food for thought.

Have had a quote of £7k from a highly recommended bathroom fitter, that was for the total strip out and install works (inc. all plumbing and electrics). Does not include the suite and materials costs. I'm in SW London.

OohRahhMaki · 03/03/2022 13:46

Approx 6k for installation and retile. Although that included electrical work, plastering and moving the toilet waste in a amall bathroom.

LizzieSiddal · 03/03/2022 13:49

I’ve just paid 7K for total striping out and all installation, including tiles, some carpentry work. This person organised all work people which was worth the expense in my opinion!

LizzieSiddal · 03/03/2022 13:49

I’m in the SE.

Hadjab · 04/03/2022 10:00

@dontblamemee

I was quoted £4K to fit mine. Then he billed £8.5k I had to sell my car to pay him.
@dontblamemee 😳

Sorry that happened to you

Alexalee · 04/03/2022 10:16

@dontblamemee
Did you have lots of extra work done?
Or was the quote just an estimate?

dontblamemee · 04/03/2022 12:31

@Alexalee not lots of extra work, some work was scrapped that was on the original quote and some other things done in place, he said it'd be about an extra £300 🙄 I was done over I think but seeing everyone else's quotes/invoices for a full refit he should have just quoted £8k up front. Anyway it's a beautiful bathroom.

Eastie77Returns · 04/03/2022 12:50

Reading with interest. Apart from word of mouth, can anyone recommend a good place to source trades?

WhatAWasteOfOranges · 04/03/2022 13:05

It’s not cheap!
We are paying 3,500 for Labour and materials for a master bathroom and downstairs toilet. Then we are paying suite, taps and tiles on top.

When we lived in SW London we had our bathroom redone in 2016 and it was 2.5k fit & tiled but prices have gone up a lot since then

cjpark · 04/03/2022 18:30

Had mine done 6 months ago, new bath, new sink on cabinet, towel rail, heated mirrors, new shower and loo fitted onto cabinet. New floor, tiled and painted £8K all in.
