What do you think of it? Is it tough enough without being too plastic? Where did you get it from? Thanks!

We have it in our kitchen diner. Looks lovely and wears well. We got it from a local carpet and flooring shop.

Seems bombproof so far. Karndean in our case from local flooring shop.

Kitchen donning room and hall - hard wearing and worth the money.

nattynoonoo821 · 26/01/2022 23:16

If you are putting furniture on it get the glue down stuff! We had the clic lock and it's failed in a year!

Polyflor Camaro here - all through downstairs. Very happy with it 4 years in

Have it throughout the downstairs. It’s worth paying for the best you can afford, stock down is better than floating and have it professionally installed. Depending on whats underneath, you may need to budget for screeding. Which is a thin layer of levelling compound so that the new sub base is smooth. Had mine 4 years and after a quick mop looks the same as the day it went down. With two teenagers in and out the house every 10 mins!
Got it done by a local independent carpet / flooring shop.

Stick down even!

Can I ask why the stick down is better?

Yes we have Karndean throughout downstairs - with 2 or 3 big dogs it's the best decision ever. Much warmer underfoot than ceramic tiles in the kitchen too. Been down 4 years and looks like new.

Beetle76 · 27/01/2022 01:10

I have Amtico Spacia. It was installed in 2018 and it looks exactly the same as the day it went down.
No damage yet (touch wood Grin) and I’ve dropped a couple - ok lots! - of things. If it were tile, it would have cracked by now.

JustJam4Tea · 27/01/2022 07:08

We got howdens click lock. Only been down a few months and looks fine.

PrinnyPree · 27/01/2022 15:56

I had Amtico Spacia installed at the end of 2014 in my kitchen and hall, still perfect and looks great. I would get it installed again if I ever moved.

FryingpanintoFire · 27/01/2022 16:46

My kitchen has been flooded a couple of times in recent years. The Amtico Spacia withstood that perfectly.

As others have said, it's really important to get it installed by expert professionals.

BonnyandPoppy · 27/01/2022 16:49

Amtico spacia here too and very happy with it. Have the polyflor camaro down in the bathrooms and happy with that as well (much smaller area though!)

CMOTDibbler · 27/01/2022 16:50

We have Karndean in the hall, sitting room, dining room and kitchen and its been down since 2009. It has faded by the patio doors, and there are a couple of chips in the hall, but other wise it still looks great in spite of our neglect, dogs, bikes etc etc.

Toddlerteaplease · 27/01/2022 16:51

I've got quickstep in my new kitchen. It's great!

Abra1d1 · 27/01/2022 16:51

We have Amtico signature in our kitchen and utility. It’s great.

BonnyandPoppy · 27/01/2022 16:54

Sorry forgot to say where I got it from which was the local dealer who is an amtico one dealer. He was slightly cheaper than John Lewis. We had the ply sub floor and then the levelling compound and then the floor which they told us we had to have for the guarantee.

MrsAvocet · 27/01/2022 16:56

We've got Karndean in our kitchen. It's ok, but the fitting cost a fortune and I'm not convinced it was worth the money compared to the Quickstep "planks" that DH put down himself in most if the rest of the house.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 27/01/2022 17:39

We have Karndean. One plank had a fault but the fitter came back and replaced really quickly (within 2 days of us calling) and said it was rare but anything like that is covered by the lifetime guarantee. We have it in the hall, kitchen, utility, dining room and cloakroom. I’ve always been a tile fan but phone screens are definitely better off being dropped on karndean! Grin I’m really happy with it.

I'm looking at Polyflor Camaro cashmere oak stick down. How is it with chairs and bar stools being moved and scraped on it? I heard bad things about the click type flooring so have been out off that

22Newnames · 27/01/2022 18:27

We are about to have stick down Karndean in our kitchen.

We asked a few fitters and they all said stick down was better. I think it’s because as long as the floor is properly prepared it is more stable.
