Decent frying pan

Sorry for the most boring question ever
But can anyone recommend a good frying pan. Got salter ones a couple of months ago and there wrecked already. Apparently your not meant to use them on a high heat which we didn't know. Don't want to waste anymore money. Has anyone got any that last.

This thread is a bit old now, but we’ve recently refreshed our best frying pan guide with plenty of high-quality, long-lasting pans recommended by Mumsnetters. We hope you find it useful.

I have the JML Copperstone one and quite honestly, I bloody love it. It's not often a gimmicky, cheap JML product is something I'd buy but I was curious.

I love my ikea sensuell stainless steel frying pan. I use it on high heat all the time, as well as being able to dishwasher it and scour on occasion when needed. It's very substantial with a nice heavy base.

Woll are amazing but ££££. Worth it though

www.johnlewis.com/le-creuset-toughened-non-stick-shallow-frying-pan/p4901586 spendy but excellent, so far so good

I found that out recently when the non stick coating bubbled off my pans. As they have a good (ha!) warranty I contacted the company who told me as I had used them at a high heat to start with it was user damage. Apparently you are meant to start off low and build up. Who knew? Not me.

I got a Pyrex Optima one which is the best I ever had.

Morechocmorechoc · 10/01/2022 21:47

Second for the le creuset

Onionpatch · 10/01/2022 21:49

I have a copperstone ine and its great. I also have a smaller cast iron one from a supermarket which is also great. Nothing sticks to the copperstone one and the cast iron one guves a goid flavour for some reason

Hairyfriend · 10/01/2022 21:53

Currently have tefal which have been fine. I have a set of large, pots from fissler which are great, so when the pans need replacing, I'll be trying their pans.

BuddhaAtSea · 10/01/2022 22:00

Do you guys have induction hobs, or normal gas ones?

Reallybadidea · 10/01/2022 22:01

I've got a few nice ones in different sizes from M&S. They seem really good, weren't too expensive and came with a 25 year guarantee.

Onionpatch · 10/01/2022 22:02

Mine is an induction one

TheFlis12345 · 10/01/2022 22:02

We have some Tefal which are about 6 months old now but look like new still.

fallfallfall · 10/01/2022 22:06

Discovered Le Crueset as linked above and love it.
Now I’m also a well seasoned cook so know not to use metal on it or use it on high heats.
For high temps I use cast iron.

BeyondMyWits · 10/01/2022 22:06

We have Oxo good grips ones from Lakeland. Not cheap, but really good and have lasted years so far.

picklemewalnuts · 10/01/2022 22:08

I've just bought a tower chameleon. It's so, so beautiful and really effective and lovely to use- non stick, rinses clean in a moment.

But it's chipped around the edge and it's only been a week.

But it's beautiful.... sigh. Don't know whether the take it back or hang on to it!

catfunk · 10/01/2022 22:23

I've just bought a ninja one after a lot of recommendations. Needed a non stick one that wasn't fugly. I've high hopes for it !

LoveFall · 10/01/2022 22:24

I have a 15 year old Tfal. A large deep one with a lid that gets used nearly daily. It was Jamie Oliver branded. It is indestructible, really nonstick and it still looks flawless. I am actually amazed.

LoveFall · 10/01/2022 22:25

I meant to say we use ours on induction.

AnnaMagnani · 10/01/2022 22:27

Another vote for the Le Creuset linked above.

Looks like this . I promise I am not a rep. It just amazes me with its longevity.

Jabbawasarollingstone · 10/01/2022 22:28

Procook one, can't remember what type but had it 3 years with no complaints. A bit like this one? www.procook.co.uk/product/procook-gourmet-nonstick-frying-pan-with-lid-24cmnon

Rubberduckies · 10/01/2022 23:24

We went for plain stainless steel from precook. Has taken a lot of practice not to stick things like eggs but it's worth it when they can be scoured and dishwashed and dented and they still work!

Twinkle19 · 11/01/2022 07:38

Same happened to us. Never heard you cant use a pan over a high heat before.

picklemewalnuts · 11/01/2022 07:47

@Rubberduckies what's the tip to using it for fried eggs? I had a stainless steel one but gave it up pretty much for that reason. It's great that you can scrub it, but I'd rather not need to!
