Decent frying pan

Sorry for the most boring question ever
But can anyone recommend a good frying pan. Got salter ones a couple of months ago and there wrecked already. Apparently your not meant to use them on a high heat which we didn't know. Don't want to waste anymore money. Has anyone got any that last.

This thread is a bit old now, but we’ve recently refreshed our best frying pan guide with plenty of high-quality, long-lasting pans recommended by Mumsnetters. We hope you find it useful.

We have the Pyrex optima as well and it’s fantastic.

@Rubberduckies how do you stop an egg sticking out of interest? Love my stainless steel roaster for all the reasons you state!

Fissler are good but rather expensive and the coating doesn't last forever

stainless will always stick and you can't prevent it

If you can force yourself not to wash it or put it in the dishwasher, an iron one with a patina of greasy grime works well.

I've got 2 Scoville NeverStick frying pans, 1 NeverStick saute pan and one - a more recent acquisition - of an UltraLift saute pan. All bought in Asda when on offer, though they're not expensive compared to other brands even at full price.

Over the years I've had many different brands at all price points and these are, hands down, the best of the lot. They've been well-used - even abused - and plenty of life left in them yet.

I cook fried eggs in my stainless steel pan. Warm Pan on heat first - this apparently closes the pores in the metal so there's a smoother more non stick surface.
Then add oil and leave for a minute of so until it's visibly hot - it goes sort of wavy looking.
Then add egg, and use a good stainless steel fish slice to lift it out. If anything is left stuck, when the pan has cooled a little put some water in and leave for 30mins or so, and any egg bits will float right off.

I use it for everything and the pre heating pan, then oil thing seems to make it fairly bombproof. I can cook crepes successfully in stainless steel now.

And I don't have to worry about chemical nasties leaching into our food - which was primarily why I bought it. Smile

We have the Ninja foodi Zerostick frying pan and wok and would definitely recommend. I got fed up with having to keep buy new tefal ones so splashed out a but but these have lasted at least 2 years and they are like new still.

KatherineJaneway · 11/01/2022 19:42

I always go for Tefal. Decently priced but robust.

Isseywith3witchycats · 11/01/2022 20:11

i have a tefal one that is now 21 years old still has lots of non stick coating its getting a bit ropey on the handle but until the handle actually falls off im not throwing it away

Circulon set purchased in BF sale. Heavy, non stock, nice looking and, more importantly, stackable.

Bedsheets4knickers · 11/01/2022 20:49

We bought the granite set from Pro cook .
It's brilliant, I've now ordered the granite baking trays Wink

We've just bought blue diamond ones and they are BEAUTIFUL and amazing. I've never loved a frying pan until now.

Frostine · 11/01/2022 20:53

@crimblecrumbles
All our saucepans / frypans are Woll. We wanted a new frypan recently , but ended up getting direct from Germany. Apparently not many places in the UK does them now.

PurpleDaisies · 11/01/2022 20:55

Scoville here too. Bought in sainsburys. Would never buy anything else now.

Unescorted · 11/01/2022 20:58

What do you want to use it for? A good frying pan for cooking omelette is different to one that needs to go in the oven.

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 11/01/2022 21:14

I have a few frying pan type pans and was using one of them the other day that I thought was really good. I looked to see where I’d got it and it’s an IKEA one.

Otherpeoplesteens · 12/01/2022 10:01

Tefal Titanium Excel here. Four and a half years old, used three or four times a week, still like new. The thermo-spot to tell you when it's hot enough is gimmicky, but a life saver for my wife when she's boiling toast as her once a month 'breakfast treat' for me.

Twinkle19 · 14/01/2022 23:09

Yeh just for basic stuff doesn't need to go in the oven.

Woll. Bought mine 6 years ago this April. Still works brilliantly and doesn't stick. I actually bought the saute pan, which is very versatile - I can brown off on the hob, shove more stuff in, pop the lid off put in the oven (take handle off for the oven)
