Hi!
We had our offer accepted on house last week.
I asked for a second viewing to measure up, which was booked in for this week.
Now the estate agent has emailed saying they have a few staff members off with covid so need to prioritise available houses for viewings, so can I wait to have a second viewing in the new year?

This makes me feel a bit uncomfortable, am I not entitled to see it again even though my offer has been accepted?
Feels like they k

Why does the EA need to be there, when our buyers measured up we were there so we could answer questions etc. Of course, if the property is empty they will need to attend. It’s a massive purchase, not unreasonable to want to view again. Most people don’t measure until a little further down the process usually. Good luck

This is insane - who measures up a week after having their offer accepted? Anything could go wrong between now and exchange. Wait until things are a bit more progressed or you are going to come across as an 'entitled' nightmare buyer and the vendor might ditch you. Also if staff are off sick they are off sick they are not doing it to personally thwart you!

Why does the EA need to be there, when our buyers measured up we were there so we could answer questions etc

That might have been fine for you, but when we last sold we didn't particularly want direct contact with our buyers, that's what we paid the estate agent to deal with!

Do you not have a floor plan?

IggysPop · 15/12/2021 07:32

It was seven months for me OP - my house had sold and was buying a new build. LA searches were taking 90 days at one point because of staffing levels. I hope it’s quicker for you, but - as people have said, it is not a quick process. You’re being impatient and unrealistic.

You are being allowed a second viewing. Just not on the teeth of Christmas, which I think is fair enough even if there wasn’t COVID

@Subbaxeo

Do you not have a floor plan?
To be fair, depending on what measuring up the OP wanted to do, floor plans don't have everything you need - where windows are, how wide they are etc. We're knocking walls down and having a freestanding kitchen, so floor plans only tell us so much. It won't tell us how much free wall space we have (because of radiators and windows, thickness of walls etc). That being said, I'm happy to wait until we get the keys.

I’m selling my late parents house
Buyers have been in 3 times twice to measure stuff and once with parents and the original viewing
They have now arranged for a survey which seems stupid as I would have arranged for the survey first before measuring up
If I lived in the property I wouldn’t be happy at 2 extra visits within 1 month

MaryHingey · 17/12/2021 10:02

A bit dramatic OP , you are allowed one but not until the New Year , measuring can wait
Its hardly urgent

Oh the measuring up viewing. My buyer had one of these. Brought her MIL and DD to hold the tape measure. Wanted a third viewing the following week to look at the chimney stack. Said we were busy and wouldn't be at home but thay were welcome to come into the garden and look from outside. They didn't come.
