Terrible estate agents photos

What on the earth is going on in these photos? Can't believe the agents have used them. I know the person who is selling this house and have been inside. They haven't included the open feature fireplace in the living room. Don't show the kitchen is big enough to put a table in it, with lovely views over the garden. Why did they not move the hoover in the utility? At that asking price the photos really need to be spot on. www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/112476743?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard#/&channel=RES_BUY

I wonder why the have cones blocking the drive.

The estate agents seem very keen on showing the views you would see out of the windows if you were sat in the rooms. Odd to focus on the hall floor, lovely though the design is, it looks like it needs a good steam clean!
Bathroom shots are very odd, taken whilst they crouched down. I wouldn’t be happy if I was the owner but if no one is living there it may not be a huge deal to them.

Paisley2018 · 13/11/2021 18:04

Surely the estate agents sent the owner some photos for them to approve before listing the property?
Maybe the owners are happy with the photos?

Kosmin · 13/11/2021 20:40

They have a floor plan which shows the kitchen is a reasonable size and stated it is 4.1m x 3.6m, so of course you could fit a table in there. I don't think you need to show that though, as people can already see a table fits in the dining room.

I haven't been in the house, so I don't know about the fireplace. Maybe there was a reason for not photographing - something damaged/spilled that they didn't want to show? Or maybe they were tidying up and had some stuff in the way and there wasn't time to move it for one photo? Similarly with the vacuum cleaner. I think estate agents often have the mentality that their job is to take photographs and not to tidy up.

Unless there are lots of similar houses in the area, I don't think this will dissuade people from viewing.

Summersdreaming · 13/11/2021 21:04

Wow £600k in Oldham?! It would need to be stunning and immaculately presented.. so very odd choice of photos.

BeaucoupFish · 13/11/2021 21:12

Those dining chairs look like from Draculas Castle c. The Hammer Horror Film era 😱

mummabubs · 13/11/2021 22:08

I thought the first two photos were fine, cones ommitted... But all the others are taken so close up that there's no sense of scale to the rooms. Basic photography knowledge is to photo with light behind you, so I'd have sacked them off based on the lounge photos alone. No wonder your friend hasn't managed to sell yet 🤦🏻‍♀️

maofteens · 14/11/2021 14:25

It's up to your friend to say something and get them redone. Most of them look like they were taken by an amateur selling their own home. But I have seen far worse.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/11/2021 14:28

Why did they not move the hoover in the utility?
Surely it's up to the vendor to only have things in the rooms they are happy being in the photos?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/11/2021 14:30

It needs a LOT of work.

I dont know the area - is it priced to reflect current condition?

Voice0fReason · 14/11/2021 14:40

They are dreadful photos.
Of course they should have moved the hoover - the estate agent who is taking the photos should have the expertise to know how to take photos and moving the odd thing here and there should be part of that.
Same with the kitchen - just move a few things that make it look untidy.

Battleofwhocouldcareless · 14/11/2021 16:01

The vendor moved abroad at short notice, so the agents took the photos without them there. The vendor must have approved them as said above, but as professionals you'd expect the agents to do a better job. Surely the agents want to sell it. It's priced much higher than similar properties in Oldham.

No help but I love the staircase and my dolls house has a range like that one. A couple of Staffordshire dogs on the top would set it off perfectly.

BruceAndNosh · 14/11/2021 16:10

Gorgeous house. Even though it needs some work (and a lot of paint)
I love the staircase and I'd be happy to clean that entry tile with a nail brush to clean it up.
Garden could be nice but back view of actual house is a bit ugly.
There IS. a table in the kitchen

GreenWheat · 14/11/2021 16:11

The thing that strikes me is that the photos don't give any sense of the flow of the house. Like you're buying a series of disconnected rooms.

SkiRun0077 · 14/11/2021 16:11

The estate agent wants to sell to their builder mate was my first thought. Prove it can’t sell then low offer from mate, turn it around in six months re-sell back via agent 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thefuturestory · 14/11/2021 16:13

The agent clearly is a point and shoot type photographer rather than attention to detail.

I’d not be impressed at all!!

Bobholll · 14/11/2021 17:31

Oh wow. Those photos are awful. What weird shots to choose! 😂 Also, really lovely house from the front, pretty ugly from the back!

Mamette · 14/11/2021 17:59

They haven’t used a wide angle lens which is the norm. I don’t mean when shorts are artificially widened, just the bog standard “professional” camera that most EAs have. These photos look like they were taken on an iPhone.

They need to go back and take proper photos.

WeAreTheHeroes · 14/11/2021 18:05

That's a fabulous house, though pricey. Yes, they look like rookie photos, but there's enough there if you're interested to make you want to view. I suspect a CF neighbour has been using the drive or the EA just wanted it clear for photos and the person taking the photos didn't move the cones. The front room fireplace might be hideous! The owner may have taken the photos for all we know.

Seashell1234 · 14/11/2021 18:54

I don't know prices in Oldham but that is a glorious house. I want the dining chairs!

Battleofwhocouldcareless · 14/11/2021 19:17

It is a gorgeous house. I hardly recognise it though from the photos.

userxx · 14/11/2021 19:21

Wow, Oldham has gone up in price hasn't it !!

Saz12 · 14/11/2021 21:01

Seems like agent is trying to show it’s got lovely features but is in need of work. Probably trying to avoid viewers who will want something that’s ready to move into.

Summersdreaming · 15/11/2021 13:46

The colorful walls and the drawings on the wall in pic 18 made me think it was a children's residential home or similar, is it a private house OP?

lastqueenofscotland · 15/11/2021 15:40

Wow that is pricey for a rough part of Oldham. Given there are some stunning houses of that size in Lees at the moment for a good chunk less I expect that will be on the market for a while…
