Its not that peculiar, much, much stranger have been shared on here.

AgentProvocateur · 17/09/2021 22:12

What’s wrong with it?

Ohpulltheotherone · 17/09/2021 22:14

It’s not strange as in its bizarre but it’s definitely a head scratcher

Why all the computers
Why an indoor outdoor garden
Why is the kitchen an American diner
Why if it’s now one house does it still have two front doors

And most of all, why would someone pay 2mill for it

CelloYouveGotABass · 17/09/2021 22:14

The top floor includes the house next door??

SpittinKitten · 17/09/2021 22:14

I like the cat tree Smile

CelloYouveGotABass · 17/09/2021 22:16

No wait - I am mistaken, it’s sort of all one building but to cross over you have to pass through a bedroom?

longtompot · 17/09/2021 22:17

That's a really strange layout. It says it's a semi detached, but it's both halves in the sale from what I can gather. The downstairs doesn't seem joined, but the top front bedrooms have been knocked through into one.

Exactly!

I flicked through the photos and thought well it’s not my taste but it could be lovely...but that floor plan! So they bought two houses next door to each other and just knocked through the master bedrooms?

GarkandGookin · 17/09/2021 22:23

Two front doors, two sitting rooms, two kitchens, the largest master bedroom imaginable, a bedroom with stairs in it, a shower room with a back door, and a lid on the garden.
It's a tad unusual.

soundsystem · 17/09/2021 22:24

Yeah it does seem to be two semi-detached houses linked by the master bedrooms?!

Also the price Shock (Two really nicely done houses on that street combined wouldn't go for that much, and I'm not sure the bedroom knock-through is worth the mark-up!)

Why not? Someone wanted big house?
Separated couple? Many kids?

WingingItEveryDay7 · 17/09/2021 22:27

I've insured properties like this. Generally what has happened is there are 2 households, both same family so eg brother and wife, sister and husband, who because of their culture etc want to live together. There aren't many big houses available so they buy 2 next to each other and knock through either upstairs or down so they can move between. They still often want a bit of separation which is why they don't fully convert (plus it's expensive to do it properly). Also means it can be easy to turn back into separate properties if the need arises.

fallfallfall · 17/09/2021 22:29

rooming house for students?
obviously a "home" with a non traditional purpose.

Ah! That's really interesting (and makes sense!). Thank you!

It looks like my DD’s animal crossing house Grin

Lifeisdinky · 17/09/2021 22:57

In same area, another one that looks strange, a 9 bedroom terraced house...

I know this house as it's very near mine. It's two regular houses converted into one and is significantly overpriced as the similar single houses sell for approx £750,000.

EastWestWhosBest · 17/09/2021 23:09

I started thinking it was fairly ordinary and then the strange covered garden and room full of computers.

I think one side was a family home but they ran a business from the other side.

This was my thought too, the room of computers looks like an office or maybe even a school type set up.

Still a very strange layout though

BlueMongoose · 17/09/2021 23:19

I've seen worse decor. Like in the house we bought, which will be like that until I have 'dealt with it'.

What happens about the local authority rates? Do they still pay the full rates for each house? I've always wondered....
20questions · 17/09/2021 23:23

It's been reduced. You're getting a bargain Wink

pollypet · 17/09/2021 23:29

It looks like a training company or college with that room with 8+ computers in? Or maybe this is as a reult of WFH/ home schooling?

Using the magic of google maps it seems it was two distinct houses in 2009 but by August 2012 the front garden of the right hand house had been ripped out to create the front car park.

Anyway not a very pleasant or homely house - I wouldnt have thought there was much demand for such a place at that price

TerribleCustomerCervix · 17/09/2021 23:42

The house(s?) itself is stunning, but there’s some unique design choices.

The room with all the computers looks like somewhere where a criminal gang runs a phishing scam.

Is the garden indoor or outdoor?
