wow what a great buy. please update on how the fitting etc goes. i'm in the process of buying a house and am very keen to use the usedkitchencompany to get a nice solid kitchen (when i eventually extend)

mklanch · 21/08/2021 11:09

i also like the usedkitchenexchange however the prices seem a bit high on there.

minipie · 21/08/2021 11:14

Oh brilliant bargain - and how great that it won’t be going into landfill. Hope you have a clever fitter who can make it work for your layout, it’s amazing what they can do.

DoubleTweenQueen · 21/08/2021 11:19

@DaphneDeloresMoorhead That will look very smart indeed! What a great idea - off to look for myself now!! Thanks for the tip! X

What an excellent buy. Our kitchen is a second hand John Lewis of hungerford one. Cost £200. No appliances though

isseys4xmastinselcats · 21/08/2021 13:14

wow that is lush my whole kitchen would fit in to half of that

The UKE kitchens include dismantling which the other companies don't - the dismantle fee on this one is £2k plus but as we have friends in trades with vans we will be doing it ourselves

DH and his best mate will be fitting - Dh is very good at DIY and extremely fastidious, his mate is a carpenter

I'm considering doing an Instagram of the refurb

This is the current set up - flood damage, 1980s decor and all

How did you get on OP is the new kitchen in?

DrWankincense · 04/09/2021 08:08

Oh we definitely need an update on this, come back, @DaphneDeloresMoorhead.
How exciting!

NewHouseNewMe · 04/09/2021 08:32

I'd also love an update too! Is it on Instagram?

ShuddaBeenMe · 04/09/2021 08:56

I missed how much it cost. I'd love to see it fitted.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 04/09/2021 09:47

I've just sold my kitchen and appliances with Used Kitchen Exchange. It sold really quickly. With hindsight though, I'm a bit annoyed that I'm having to pay for the dismantle (£960).

On the plus side, it's their dedicated removals team, so it should be quick and not cause damage to the kitchen or walls etc. But it has cost me more than selling through one of the other firms doing this.

mafted · 04/09/2021 10:16

So who actually pays for the dismantling? As OP mentions paying as the buyer but pp mentions paying as the seller.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 04/09/2021 10:41

@mafted I'm selling through UKE and I have to pay for dismantling. The other used kitchen companies seem to put the responsibility on the buyer.

That's why I think I've paid too much! I'm only getting 55% of the sold price after paying for their commission plus VAT and the dismantle plus VAT.

@DaphneDeloresMoorhead
I’m so curious what is that glass dome in the floor

Coogee · 04/09/2021 11:00

I’m so curious what is that glass dome in the floor

For me, it’s the alien egg pods on the counter.

GCAcademic · 04/09/2021 11:02

The glass dome is stairs to a wine cellar.

GCAcademic · 04/09/2021 11:04

Actually, it looks like the stairs are to reach the top shelves of the wine cellar and the dome is just to expose the wine cellar as a feature of the kitchen.

BeaucoupFish · 04/09/2021 11:04

@GCAcademic
Of course ! Wow
How the other half live 🍷
cheers

mafted · 04/09/2021 11:15

Thanks @PoshWatchShitShoes I see now they're talking about two different companies.
I didn't even know there were companies doing this, I've only ever sold kitchens on marketplace.

Puffalicious · 04/09/2021 11:19

Brilliant OP. I missed how much it cost, please remind and update on the refurbishment..
